Tree of the Life

————————————————  ( Kailash Mountain  /  Photo = Wikimedia)

This is the roots of a tree said to be brought from the Holy Kailash Mountain of Tibet.

It is a dwarf birch tree < Bitula Kailash Kailasee > only

a tree grow in that high and cold area.

—– as the soil is very thin on the rock, roots can grow

only side way in the shallow soil, and strangely, it said

to be always grow same anti-clock spiral direction

as you can see in the photo.

The ancient legend says that this tree has the

mythical power of the life, hence able to grow

even in such harsh condition.

And the pattern of this roots was said to be the origin of the Swastika/卍 = as

its graphical representation. —– M m m ?

Though, unfortunate to the tree, since this tree was too highly sought after, they are said to be almost

extinct in its original location now. —– How shame.

Yet still, the nature is always the source of the inspiration to the man. —– and to me.

PS: It’s a nice story though, do remember, it is a mythical legend.

One theory is, its spiral formed roots are acting as an antenna to capture
the Cosmic energy though, it’s sound Para-Physics.

May I add to your thoughts – the swastika is a form of solar circle, a source of fertility(life) too. In the west we have an unfortunate connection with the symbol as you know. There is an artist manwoman who is trying to reconnect the symbol with its original meanings: http://www.freewebs.com/manwomans/savetheswastika.htm

Are you aware of any medicinal value of the tree?

      Hi Paul
I’m not very impressed by the idea of [manwoman] = basically I don’t like a
      new-age cherry-picking mambo-jumbo, as I’m even dubious of mix-up of
      Buddhism and Sanskrit.
Swastika exists long before Buddha, since the time of Veda = that’s why
      Kailash was the Holy place.

I don’t think Lord Buddha gave a damn to Swastika since it was Vedic.
And that’s why, the original Symbol of the Buddhism was a Wheel.
(The materials of your body => decomposed => re-used to construct another
life form = endless recycle = hence Wheel )
Lord Buddha’s understanding was the Science, but idea of Swastika is a Myth.

Lots of Chinese medicine is based on the misconception and the Placebo
effect of wishful thinking, such as Arsenic had used for Aphrodisiacs
because when man’s body faced the death, last struggle for the life resort for
the last instinct = sex, hence it looked having its effect. Or, use of snake for
an Aphrodisiac is that snakes do the sex entwined long time (not 5 Minuit).
Birch tree has little use for medicinal value though, I suspect that many had
tried and it caused the extinction.

Yet still, I don’t know why the roots of this tree grow in anti-clockwise ?
      It’s really a mystery 😀
