Simple Arithmetic

In the previous post, I mentioned the strength of the image and the size of the lens. When the inside-lens was 6mm and the outside was 14mm, of course the image made by the outside-lens would overwhelm the image of the inside-lens. The image made by the inside-lens will almost disappear like a halo caused by the dust.

We can calculate the area size of the lens = 3.14 x R x R – – – but we can see just the relative size as 6×6 against 14×14. In the 14×14=196, 6×6 was the inside-lens – – – 196 – 36 = 160 – – – 160 is obviously too much – – – it got to be about 72 (36+36) and the root of 72 = about 8.5mm – – – it’s mean, if the outside-lens was 8.5mm, the area of its ring shaped lens was the same to 6×6 inside-lens —– The image strength should be the same ! (The Bokeh image made by the inside-lens should be as strong as to the outside-lens’s sharper image.)

While restricting the 14mm to 8.5mm size, effect of the outside-lens was reduced = the inside-lens bokeh became more prominent.

This was not just fuzzy lens but rather sharp (kind of) lens and Bokeh lens conbined = therefore it has certain sharp (?) details.

How awkward = like a useless game of Sisyphus. – – – In fact, that was what all about the game I’ve been plying here = making the lenses.

And that was what Lord Buddha told to his disciple, for sweeping the garden to Shuri Pantak, knocking the door to Kisa Gotami. – – – – – Why not to me make the lenses. – – – Why not ?

I like the tone (color shift) of this picture. The watercolor paint which the brush was not well washed = its color has been fused or casted. 😀

Those images were made on the Nikon Z7 – – – I think, the softness was just right. (Soft mean, the neibouring pxel’s data were spilled out and infused each other hence the edge of the small details disappeared and the color mixed – – – how wide this infusion occur is the depth of the softness. Or the spread of the light. = Bokeh ! )

When the subject was good, any camera can make nice picture. 😀

Is this ZEN or nuts ?

You may not guess what I’m going to talk. And don’t know what this is.

It was my life’s residure and its accumulation. The Lidl’s plastic tray of the Chicken.

I stopped to eat Beef 1987 when the BSE was reported. (It happen to be the same year, I also stopped any sexual contact when the first news of new diseases = later named to be AIDS was reported.) —– So, since then I only eat Chicken or fish, on top of veggie and fruits. Therefore, with my regular shopping of Chicken (about 1kg par week), those plastic trays are keep coming. —– as a kind of tempolary container, those trays are always conveniently in use still, much more trays are piling up. (If I were a good business person, I might have made a rule to limit the number of the trays in stock.)

If it was 10 or 20, nobody would bother. But when it accumulated to the hundreds, people may started to wonder — “Is it ZEN ?” — or nuts.

Number of ZEN stories are the story of the endless concentration and the result of the tenacious pursuit. = as a matter of fact, the practise in the Buddhism is nothing but the endless repetition of the same action. —– whether the matter or its purpose was the end result or in the process, its practise changes the person. So, its hard to tell, whether the continuous action was a part of ZEN practise or the problem of one’s own mental.

Then, if it was the case, how they related to the Buddhist mind of Detachment, No-clinging or live on the Impermanence kind. = you may feel the contradiction between here. —– Why you feel contradiction IS because your understanding of Detachment / Mushin = Mind of No-mind was wrong. This was the most common misunderstanding in the Buddhism. = Detachment / Mushin IS NOT an idea or thinking BUT they are the condition of the mind = like the mind was in an up-beat or sud state kind. I’m not thinking “Not to buy Beef” but I don’t see the beef there. (Not to buy Beef was not an ISM or thinking BUT it was the situation of “No beef was there”. ) So, no-one see the beef, because the one who see the beef / SELF is NOT there.

Because of, the people try to UNDERSTAND the Buddhist’s mind or try to think “That way” they can NOT get it. Buddhist’s mind IS NOT attained by intention. It has to BE in the state. When you are in, you can not aware that you are in.

So, the tray of Chicken keep accumulates —– without my conscious. I’m living without me aware that I’m living. I do, I eat , I speak what is natural to me. So, I don’t import anything foreign to my life. This IS what we call Buddhism. IF you THINK and TRY to practise Buddhism, it is NOT BUDDHISM. BUDDHISM has to reach without intention. While living as a Buddhist but forgot that you are a Buddhist, you are a Buddhist. In that state, even the SELF = you are, not existing.

I found a photo looks too iconic of the Japanese mentality ! This is what we meant “Go for all hog” —– this mentarity was behind the recovery from the earthquake disaster etc.

The young people attending the local ceremony to count that they reached to the adulthood on this year.

Godo Lens

The reason, why the sky was dull = not because the Godo lens but the sky was dull.

My friend / Cinematographer Gordon was clearing up his etc — and gave those junk to me. I don’t know how the man neither geek or otaku, managed to disassemble those, even without having tools — I didn’t ask.

What so ever the history or origin, the lens is a lens = only a matter for me IS whether it is “Usable”. —– Another day, a man offered me a very expensive industrial projection lens = more than 20cm diameter and 5kg heavy solid glass. I can guess, when it was made and sold, it must have 10 thousands pound price though —– ? what can I do with this ? —– once before, the line or graphics of the big industrial design was transeferred onto the iron material by optical projection, but now the digital technology and the laser took the work role. So, some of those old staffs may not stand even for a door stopper now.

If it was a converging lens, placing the lens on front of the camera (I mean, SLR body without a lens) and see the image. === in most of the case, the lens would show the good image only in the centre = in certain taste, the fuzzy surroundings may give a soft good atmosphere though may not necessary always.

Then give more test while stuck the lens on front of the focusing helicoid etc and try combine with other lens and so on etc for all sorts = and hundred of test click.

Since I got number of fuzzy lenses already, this time I picked one lens which has rather even image field (photo above) but as the angle of view was rather narrow, I added a diversing lens to widen its image field. ( You might be amazed to see, that the lens game can be played in such a casual manner — Yes, the game was not reserved only for Newton or Gauss kind of people)

Resulting lens was somewhat like this. = a bit strange lens. Never has any defined focus, nowhere is sharp nor anywhere is very blur.

So, makes your day always somewhat dull. 😀

This softness is more like a stocking over the lens. = the image looks like a reduced resolution image / Toy CCTV, otherwise the picture looks normal picture.

When the light doesn’t go where supporsed be, we call it aberration. But, in this case, not enough number of the light reaching and occupied each point, as a resolution. If this was the case, where the missing light has gone ? Is this an insoluble paradox isn’t it ? ? ? 😀

LED ring light + 8150 Story

While looking around the Ebay, I noticed that the Chinese LED Ring Light is very cheap now = could be even cheaper than a homemade.

So, I bought one 24W-Variable, 5500K, 20cm Ring Light for £12 ! —– it came with a mounting fixture still not perfect for a photographic lighting. —– for photo-light, it needs to be mounted on the many kind of lighting stand etc, in order to have a freedom of the positioning and lighting angle. = A sort of good compromise was a Z-light arm on a flexible lighting stand, which may allow the position poised setting under one hand adjustment.

With this idea, I have collected quite few Z-light components etc, etc — then I realised that, to build a Z-arm, balancing springs are the most troublesome components I need to get hold (but who supply them etc )

And, I was convinced that instead of struggling building Z-light myself, why not to buy a readymade LED light with Z-arm = when such light comes as cheap as £18 !

So, I ordered and waited the item delivered. Then, I received a delivery notice of Tracking Code GV085180518GB, which said that the parcel was dropped off : 28-Dec 14:04 GMT. —– But, very parcel was seen nowhere.

—– As I knew the tracking number was completely that omen of 8150, I thought it could show the big trouble. (The parcel was not dropped to the neighbour either and no notice was left) So, where has it gone ? Was that one stolen ?

So the enquiry to the Royal Mail — etc etc. — ? ? ?

Then it was delivered on Monday by a Chinese Post woman.

Now the system of main light and the Aux / Ring light on Z-light arm were complete.

On this 8150 case turned out to be not necessary so bad for the New Year 2020. But the question was, ——— Why the Omen Number 8150 which can be read for Ha-I-Go-Rei in Japanese (mean the Spirit Behind = Guardian Angel, keep following me ?) Leave me alone. (Or, the heaven is giving me the sign = that I have to fulfill my role ?)

Then the twist came 4 weeks later = The LED ring light on Z-light arm which I bought for £18 from China brake down. (Can be modified or cannibalised to use only its LED ring-light and the Z-light arm) Seemingly, as it was chiep, the quality was just accordingly. —– Same as the Korean, Chinese might have thought that if they copy Japanese product using the same production machine and the component fron Japan, they can make the same though —– they don’t know the “Now-how” = how to use that machine. = Quality and the reliability couldn’t be copied. (That’s why I only buy small mechanical components, such as adapter ring from China)

And the heaven might know this situation long before, and that’s why the tracking number (085180518) appear to be that’s “8150” omen number = so, the product has come with a warning.

Then, the following story was funnyier. I try to get hold the said broken switching unit (asking the seller to replace the parts and try to contact the manufucturer of the switching unit —– without success ) Then, I realised that apparently the same ring light (with the same switching unit but without the magnifier lens nor Z-light arm ) was on the market for as cheap as £6.70, which could be even cheaper than the cost to get hold the electronic circuit from the manufacturer. = So, I ordered the two of them. (One to replace the broken switching unit and the other to use on my homemade ring light) = Now, my LED ring light on the Z-light arm is in a working order.

Kaki aka Persimmon fruits

There must be hundred of festive cooking and the food still, a fruits associated with Japanese New Year for me is the Kaki = known to the west as Persimmon. Tree itself is quite commom in Japan therefore to the kids grown up with the experience of picking the Kaki fruits from the tree was rather common, much more than a case of fig or peach.

Something unique to the Kaki is, there is a fun or game factor in the Kaki eating game to the kids. The fruits of some tree is very bitter and if it was too early, the fruits was also very bitter. = needs to know exactry which one is good on that moment. In the same time, there is the certain technique or tradition to make very bitter Kaki sweet. Such as to store the fruits in the certain period while putting a bit of sake to its bottom, was an exciting practise to the kids = kids always breach the line and test whether Kaki was sweet already. —– Peel the skin of kaki and let them dry under the winter sun is the other very common practise. (Kaki become a very sweet Hoshi-gaki)

So, in the New years time, eating the well ripen sweet Kaki is a journey to my kids day.

Fragmented lens for London snap (A)

Somewhat the same landscape by the “Fragmented Lens” on Nikon Z7.

It is something puzzling me ? ? ? —– Advanced image processer in the latest camera straggling with unusual images and make the image even more unnatural.

F and M — Cats story ?

They are the photos from the Fortnum and Mason’s X’mas decorations taken by a homemade “Fragmented Lens” ( few exceptions which got dark surroundings = 110 Pentax 24mm Lens) on Nikon Z7.

I’ve been seeing this gentleman always on this doorside every X’mas time (except last year) = he is the another fixture of the Fortnum and Masons shop for ages.

I’m not knowledgeable enough to tell what breed of the cat they are nor able to tell about those angels —– still, I hope you to have a peaceful merry X’mas. 😀

Oxford Street —> Selfridge X’mas decoration (?)

The all photos here were taken by a homemade 1/4 lens on NikonZ7.

Selfridge’s this year’s X’mas decoration was just the display of their goods.

Economical downtern reflected from uncirtainty of the Brexit etc etc might be making shy economy, hence their design were pretty economical here too.
