Live on a fantasy = naughty talk !

This is a photo of a girl’s figure (The image has bee removed / disappeared) costed almost 2 million yen = about £14,000. (You may see more photos in this link. >>> http://onecall2ch.com/archives/8593286.html ) It seems, her name was Megumi Kato — though I have no idea whether she was a character in a comic story ? Apparently the person who bought this figure (one of 10 people) was quite rich and having many more figures in his collection which were displayed in a special room ! The guy seemed to be hooked by the love for the fantasy world. —– Was that anything wrong ? —– In fact, there has been many many stories of “A man fall in love with a doll” in the history. Or, even with shoes, under wares etc etc = so-called fetishism. A man can love anything, pretty deeply. But sometime people call it “Obsession”. Anyway there is no sane love .

You might say, this is a bit healthier choice as she is a real woman (girl ?) in flesh. She, Ai Shinozaki is, probably the most adored idol in Japan. If you Google her name, you may find the 10s of thousands of items in their list. = on top you may find a site having her nearly 5000 photos in their collection. Obviously, she is not a world-class beauty, — you may even say plain, some even call her pig though, yet the boss of Japanese Woman’s Association ( somewhat that kind) complained that because of her, so many Japanese man has been trapped by her and kept away from “normal” marriage.
It might be true. = Psychologically being in love with her, the one can feel somewhat the same kind of comfort and the excitement, without having all the awkward trouble and the cost of real life. — Delusion can have anything. Why not and what’s wrong. 😀
Don’t you remember, when you were in early teens, you’ve fallen into love with somebody (often others say, “Why her ?”) the one, even never seen her reality, worse still even without knowing the name. Unlike a girl seeing in a train, young man can download or print-out Ai Shinozaki’s half-naked body. As she got very strange and strong pull, on top of her big boob, she is the idol pretty enough to fall in love yet still having no mess of life with real woman. If a man want to have a sex, it’s easily available anywhere = So, who need to get marry = hence now-a-day 1/3 of eligible Japanese men are not keen to get involved in relation, let alone get marry. Cynical irony is, since the male and female population is about the same, effect of the attitude of the men affects the women.
When the effect of the baby boom started to bite on the 70s, the population difference of men and women forced-out million of women from having the relation = women were forced to live alone hence the needs of equal pay and all sorts of women’s right became the serious issue. Since then, the Human-right, Protection of this and that etc getting further and further creating independent-minded women, sexually liberated women etc = to the man, it’s mean better not getting involved, better keep distance from them otherwise the worst could be sued and be claimed compensation. The society was disintegrated, or even into anonymity.
In principal, equal number of both sex and the monogamy system was to guaranty every member of the society to have an equal chance to have a mate and rise a family. In order to reinforce this system, the availability of sex was strictly controlled (= only allowed between married couple) and the relation has to be “contracted under authority / even by the God” and hard to divorce. —– To establish this system, mankind spent thousand of years of trial and error while negotiating with “Human Nature” ! But, once the fragile balance was broken, only the chaos would come. Not only the less and less marriage, the spread of SD especially syphilis among the young Japanese people are alarming rate. And it push the birth rate even lower.
—– In different aspect, this chaos could be a remedy provided by the Dharma to curb the exploding world population. 😀

Halina Wide or its lens
Often I’ve been using a term “Junk” or “Toy Camera” quite casually, despite of a bit of guilty conscious. Many years ago, once I strongly complained to Nikon, when they produced a (relatively) cheap Nikon EM with its back-light compensation button in blue plastic (it really looks cheap plastic) I said to them (to the boss of Nikon UK) “Don’t make cheap camera looks cheap” “Although, it is cheap, for the young student from a poor back ground, it must be an affordable limit, and their dream and the treasured possession” “Make it looks cheap and make them feel shabby wouldn’t create the future of Nikon any good return”= so, they changed the button to chrome colored. —– Yes for some people, so-called Toy Camera was still only a camera they could afford.

On the photo, you may see 4 of the Canon EFS 18~55 — in fact I had 2 more which I’ve completely taken down to the pieces for study or use the motor etc. for the other purpose (such as this front element or that).
People may misconceived that a kind of the work I’ve been doing, it must be done in a well equipped proper workshop. (Quite few people thought I got a Lathe machine, even a Laser Cutter.) They were wrong, the works were done in my kitchen mostly by a hacksaw. (if it was a very dusty work, done in a bath tub (without water of course)
Forget a political correctness kind —– the reality IS, the cheap camera which end-up in an odds-ends box as a junk was just made by an ABS plastic mold + plastic parts = nothing like each mechanical unit was assembled on the metal frame like a more expensive counterpart. So, to disassemble a junk camera meant hacksaw the area I need to gauged out from the lest.

Then, gauged out lens unit (in this case 2 plastic lenses) was temporally attached on the camera to see the exact position. (Photo left) And test mount the lens unit on the camera body cap. (Photo middle) On the end, this is the finished product. (Photo right)
While toiling with such hard work, what sort of the image could be created ? In reality, nothing special or rather say, it’s a crap.

Not necessary the infinity, but this is a far enough distant objects. Tree twig looks twig = seems OK.

And without having refocus (no such things here), the subjects, a meter or so looks like what we are seeing. May be this is the point, we are amazed. (Really ? !)
Wait a moment, think again. A lens of 28mm (for full frame) would have rather large depth of field. Say, fix the distance to 1.7m and set the aperture for F8, the subjects from 0.8m to somewhat 20m (almost “far”) would be (regarded to be) in focus.

So, this IS the image made by a lens (Canon EFS 18~55) fix to 28mm, 1.7m and F8.

And this IS the close distance image made by the same lens without chang anything. (focus was still 1.7m)
It must be clear, so-called omunifocus is not necessary an amazing phenomenon. Here is a very simple common sence in photography = Stopped down wide-angle lens can shoot anything. (But the trouble IS, it would make the photo looks messy — to express, the less is more) 🙂

Chip on the Card

It seems my Bank sends me the new card every two years. The card got magnetic track and an embedded microchip as well. This chip seemed to have so much information about my banking data.
(Photo left showed the back of a chip. = You can see those 5 dots were connected to the chip by the gold wires. = Yes, they are a sophisticated electronic device ! —– and, if you collected million cards, you can mine, may be one gram of gold. 😀 )
In fact, where ever we go on this planet, as long as the device was on-line, the data contained in the chip can define who I am and my banking. And the data would link to such as the credit record as well.
Once before, the Virgin Media double charge me (since they are the merged company, one of their part = Nortel, as well as the Virgin sent me the net-connection bill. I blocked the direct debit at once then the battle started.
It took another 6 months for them to realize that they made a mistake (seemingly they don’t know what other part of the company was doing what). The Virgin kept sending me the so-called outstanding charge then sold the alleged debt to a debt recovery company and the threat of debt recovery by force started, and my bank account was black listed. (= no more direct debit contract) And the trouble of credit rate lasted over a year while Virgin was saying “Credit company did it not us” and to find which credit rate company did it = we need to pay money to investigate it ! Since then I never trust Virgin, even look at their AD mail.
So, just check the card, its data can tell all the “So-called trouble” whether they are true or not. = Naturally, I’m very cautious about to give off the data = number etc. and when I dispose the old card, I not only cut them but also heat them and twist like in a photo on top. You may say its a paranoia — no, it’s not a joke. With this kind of guard and never used real name on the net, thanks goodness, I’m virtually free from Spam, Fraud, trickster sales. 🙂

Fill the sink-hole in one week
A sink-hole ( 30m x 25 m x 15 m deep) appeared in the center of Hakata city in Japan has been filled just in a week. Here is a video footage of whole process condensed to the even shorter 140 second. (Compiled from the NHK 24 hours live camera image) They are a record of the ordinary ground work = nothing fancy, no drop of the soil from a helicopter kind but just a filling work, connecting life line etc. in a gapless efficient works. Hence it was done in the shortest possible time (save a little delay due to the bad weather) of which the foreign media described that if it was in their country, it could have taken a month, even a year or more. Though it involved ten or more specialist company, each work wouldn’t take long hours to do = in other words, well organised continuous work (= without waiting, arguing kind of time waster) work could be done and has been done. —– On this episode, the most crucial point in the Japanese psyche is, that they can make themselves Ego-less at once. This is the core of the Japanese Ethos, originated from the Zen Buddhism, Mushin (Mind of No-mind). With this deeply sublimated Ethos = Collective Unconsciousness, all the construction company, expert in each trade come together work together, disregard the competing company’s interest etc. The company’s interest, individual interest were copletely over ridden by the sense of “Duty”to serve the community.

Pen-F Zuiko 38mm F1,8 Lens on Sony A7R
I don’t remember why this lens was still here. This Olympus Lens
has been in the end of shelf many years. It was a Olympus Pen-F’s
standard lens though, Pen-F was a half frame camera (24×16) and its
flange-back was 28.95mm, the lens couldn’t have a focus other than
a macro use, I might have had a test of close-up photo on Canon 5D.
— The funny history of this lens was, on late 80s, one of my friend
photographer who wanted to experiment, “To get a rough-grain soft
image, using a Push development on a Cross-process” = In order to get
rough Grain, he wanted to use even smaller original = hence Half-size.
—– So, he asked me to make an adapter to use Nikon Lens on a
Pen-F body. = I made it out of Nikon close-up ring and a Pen-F
mount from this 38mm lens = So that, this lens lost bottom mount.
= in normal sense, it is an utterly useless junk
—– though, while Googling the Net, I found the people using Pen-F
lens on the Full-frame Sony camera ! (Unlike the lenses for the
Cropped size senser DSLR camera, those Olympus Lenses has
been made to cover (well almost) the full-frame image circle !)
To modify this lens for a Sony E-mount camera, I found a M-39
Leica lens to E-mount adapter has the almost a right size.
So, I screwed M-39 ring to the back of Pen-F lens (+ some
adjustment for infinity focus) = = = Voila, Pen-F lens on A7R.
The test shot on general
distance was usable but
not bliliant.
(The lens might have
sold as a spre parts =
damaged goods)
Still, Close-up photo
was pretty good.
(Photo below, middle)
Though, there isn’t much soft texture (It may be because
the Sony A7R camera or its image process.) (Photo right)

Olympus Pen-F Lens is very small, (In comparison to such as
Nikon lens + adapter on Sony) pretty nice match to the A7R,
so that, I’m quite happy to have this F1.8 wide-angle lens.

OM Cap

Some post ago I mentioned that the lens and body cap of Olympus
OM can fit to the other cameras. A very funny story behind was,
since I needed a body cap of Micro 4/3rd camera as I wanted to make
a lens for M4/3 camera (MD-E). I ordered it through eBay, as I found
one bender is selling the lens and body caps together for £0.99 !
While I was waiting the cap arrive here, I changed Olympus MD-E to
Sony A7R = since, compare to 10 mm x 16 mm M4/3 image sensor, A7R
got 35mm full size. Why settle with tiny toy. — Then, I realized
that the body (and lens) cap I received was not for M4/3 camera but
out-dated OM (film camera’s) = “A’ha that’s why it was so cheap”
This could be a serious trouble though, before I start to complain to
the bender, I found that the OM cap can fit to the latest Sony
E-mount body / A7. (Anyway, on that moment I no longer had
Olympus but Sony. )
.
The three caps on the first shopping run out soon to make yet another
Pinhole Machine and Toy camera lens.
Therefore, I re-ordered to the same bender yet more three caps.
—– And, I waited, and waited while having quite hi-tension because,
the bender might have noticed that he (she ?) made a mistake and would
send me M4/3 cap instead, it means I may need to buy E-mount cap while
paying 4 times more money. But, I received the old OM caps again ! 🙂

I’ve tested few plans to make other strange optics etc to use those
lens caps. In fact, I got the M42 to E-mount adapter for the same
purpose still, they are more expensive and awkward to work with.
— anyway, back to the funny story, = I still don’t know whether
the bender was knowingly selling OM cap as the M4/3 cap or
honestly believing that was M4/3 cap.
What so ever, I was lucky to have this mishup — and that’s why
on the postal package, the Omen of that number appeared.
(on the top photo, in the red circle = 1085 ) 😀

Covent Garden (2) (by the Lens)

All the photos in this post were taken by, most of them were by
the 18mm Zeiss Distagon for Nikon, on D810. But few of them
were by the Homemade Toy Camera Lens on the Sony A7R.

Covent Garden IS the place the most changed its guise in London.
When I came to London, here was a vegetable market. Still, for the
planned move of the market, some businesses were started to move.
When the wholesale market kind of business moves, they leave
huge stock space behind.
Then, the people who needs huge space moved in. = Photo studio kind.
And the related business, such as film processing etc. =
That’s how I came here = to have my E6 film developed.

What a bad taste. Is this what they call Spiritualism ? ? ?

Simply because of a Film, My fair Lady (Audley Hepburn’s Flower girl !)
the tourists started to come Covent Garden, so, the area has been changed
to a “Fashionable Tourists Place” —– still, it’s interesting to see why the
area attracted occult / spiritual shop = quite few of them are here.

In 1974 (?) probably the first vegetarian restaurant in central London
“Food for thought” opened here. (I was taken there by a vegetarian
friend who does the Buddhists Meditation)
(thence, he started to have the troubles on his leg).
—– it was a well-known story, that the all the High Priests
of Zen end up on wheel chair.
Gautama Buddha left a rank of hard astir monk, thinking that to
torturing the body wouldn’t bring any High Awareness to him.
(But, my friend didn’t convince and said, that the trouble on his leg
was nothing to do with Zen practice, instead, need more effort for
the meditation to save his life.) ! ! !
So, may be those stubborn vegetarianism was the origin of
“Spiritual Covent Garden” (Food for Thought twisted the belief ! )
And a corner of the Covent Garden, Neals Yard became a holy place
for the vegetarian. — By the way, vegetarianism came from Hindu.
Lord Buddha eat anything offered and died for food poisoning of fish.
Buddhism doesn’t have such arrogance, “Killing the plant is OK”.
Killing and eating animals, plants are part of unavoidable Karma.

Round the corner, two pictures above, were in fact, China Town.
.
Photographer’s Gallery

Probably the most well-known iconic figure in the Photographer’s Gallery
must be the guy always sitting there, Alan. —– In this occasion, he was
captured by the Toy camera lens, costed less than £2. —– Still,
considering its humble origin, the photo here wasn’t too bad, isn’t it ?
Or, I would say, the quality and the quite present softness is superb.
(Did you noticed, there was no focused point or depth of field kind
on the picture = because the lens was omnifocas.)
(And, did you see the man’s face, he was not smiling. If you thought
otherwise, your eyes are not seeing reality of the life. Look again.)

But, rest of the images here were taken by my Pinhole-machine. 😀

About the info’ of what they are doing now = please see their website.
This is not a journalistic report but the shadow, what I saw there
and how I reacted.

MMMMMMMMMMM (sometime, I keep my mouth shut)
😀
.
Useless Information (?)

Image here was made by a Tri-color Pinhole which I could mount on
the A7 camera through Nikon to EOS and EOS to E-mount adapter.
(What a hustle ! = I’ll tell you later.)
During all those hustle, what I found were — (though they may not
necessary useful to you.) 😀

1) You can use Pentax-K lens cap on Nikon lens. (Photo Left)
2) Likewise, the same Pentax-K lens cap will fit to the Sony
E-mount lens. (Photo Middle)
3) Sony E-mount body cap will fit to the Nikon body. (Photo Right)

4) The adapter, EOS to E mount I got from Ebay (about £5 or so) had
a trouble — as bayonet spring was too wide and obstructing the lens
bottom goes into = I needed to file-down the width of those 3 springs
(where I marked in Red on the photo Right = see enlarged)

(Photo shows the bayonet spring and a broken hence replaced screw)
= If you found the same trouble, you need to do the same — or buy
another, more expensive one. (So, they changed the price to £7.xx) 😀
(Think, why it was cheap = being defective, it became a deadstock and
sold as a scrap. Then, Chinese guy made a Net business to sell away
= how many customers sending back and claim a money back which
would cost more, and the address may not even existed.) 😀
The funny story was, as I put negative feedback on ebay, the seller
contacted me saying if I change the feedback to positive, they will
refund me, so I replied them “As this blog explained, I’ve modified
its defect and now I’m using it, therefore no need of refund, still,
the fact remain I wouldn’t change the negative feedback” —
then, they send me yet another mail
“We will send you £2, so change the feed back to positive” =
Are they thinking that they can buy me £2 ! = What a mentality !
Is this a norm in China ? horrifying isn’t it !
To see the situation, I gave a through check of those adapters.

(To be fair, I obtained even one more EOS-NEX adapter)

In order to make a bayonet fixing tight enough= not clutter,
still smooth enough to dismount, the spring was used beneath
the craw (such as the one I’ve shown few picture before with
red mark), other cheaper alternative is to make a slit in the
claw (Photo above Left = yellow marked) and make the slit
bend to give some flexibility. Though, the other EOS-NEX
adapter showed funny character = Canon’s EFS (plastic mount)
could be mounted but metal mount thousand pound lens couldn’t.
Because the adapter’s female claw was too thick. ==> I needed
to file down the claws thinner. (Photo Right — with blue color
marker = it’s easy to see where I do need to cut !)
(It’s funny to discover, that the Canon is making their
cheap EFS lens mount even thinner and loose.)

5) Nikon G to EOS adapter sold on the Net, the rotating lever may be
too long and stack with the lens bottom. So that, if you found the sign
of such symptom, DON’T mount the lens to EOS with such adapter.
You need to file-down the tip of the lever (marked in Red in the
photo above) a bit shorter, and make sure the lever moves freely.

So, — after I’ve sorted out those troubles, I could mount my
Tri-color Pinhole (here, Pink, Yellow, Sky) to the A7 body.
( Then after thought, I should make another one for A7, since an
Olympus body cap which is fit to A7 is £0.99 and etc is free, but
the use of those adapter which is costing £5, £10 makes no sense.)

And, this was the photo of, now rather familiar view — by
the Zeiss Distagon 18mm, designed for Nikon mount.
—– A nightmare of the mount adapter IS = once the lens stack
to the body, there is no way else other than to destroy the lens.
(Pull-off the screws, fixed to the mount with sheer force or hack-saw
the lens bottom while showering the camera with saw dust.)
Is it funny ?
.
PS : If you are looking for the Body Cap for Sony NEX mount to use
for a Pinhole experiment etc. or just for body cover, now in the Ebay
you can find the pair of E-mount (NEX) Rear Lens Cap + Body Cap
for £0.99 —– you don’t need to hastle finding out OM cap. 🙂
