A Field by a Pinhole

DD-Pinhole

A week after the previous post, the flowers in the same field has almost gone.

When there is no distinctive color pattern, the Double Density Pinhole is not

suit for a photo, as it’s image become just an incomprehensible murky blob

though,  never mind this is the 666th post in this blog !

Field by DD-Pinhole(2)A09A2973

A belief, the world to be a clear, comprehensible place may not be true.

Neither photo necessary shows  clear image. (It still a photo !  Why not. )

Devil might like them !

Ha ha ha.   😀

PS :  To advocate the Pinhole Photography general,  Not most of the

Pinhole photo is such bad,  I’ll show you the images made by

the ordinary ( one small simple ) Pinhole.

Single Pinhole(1)A09A3106

Single Pinhole(2)A09A3111

Single Pinhole(3)A09A3103

But the trouble of the ordinary pinhole photo was that, they are only the Photo

of  un-sharp. = nothing other than that inadequacy and never showed any other

positive value. —– That’s why I’ve put yet another pinhole around the center

pinhole  to make Concentric Double Density Pinhole,  in order to achieve the

Impressionist’s Painting like effect.)

Karenisque Photo – 4

Karenisque-4(1)A09A2822

In a local park, some  corners were left uncut, therefore the plants in those

patches were quite wild though, they may not completely  natural and

some colorful garden flowers were there.

Karenisque-4(2)A09A2824

As it was much wider set-up,  meadow can be captured in distance and

may able to have some atmosphere.

Karenisque-4(3)A09A2803

But this time,  lens was the most ubiquitous 24 mm ~ 70 mm Zoom and

giving multiple-exposure while shaking the camera.

(Some of the multiple images were merged together in camera otherwise

multiple images appeared. = So, all the pictures here are very messy.

(Don’t worry — Some likes it lots.   🙂 )

Karenisque-4(4)A09A2753

Karenisque-4(5)A09A2831

Karenisque-4(6)A09A2840

Karenisque-4(9)A09A2809

Karenisque-4(10)A09A2737

Karenisque-4(11)A09A2762

When multiple images were merged together, with sheer coincidence,

funny pattern appeared in the picture. (Left hand side — concentric circles ! )

Giving the camera random shock to avoid monotonous blur

—– was the result of good deal of practice !

Now I’m a qualified “Photo Blurrer” you see.    😀  😀

Karenisque-4(17C)A09A2795-002-PS

With some distance,  it was easier to adjust the tone to create some depth.

Karenisque Meadow – 3

Karenisque Meadow-2(1)A09A2263

Previous post “Karenisque Meadow – 2”  was shot by the Homemade Lens with

its unique soft halo.   But, of course Karen was not using such lens and the

softness of her picture was created by its blurr and a bit of tinkering —– it’s

mean the original photo has to be shot by a sharp lens.

Karenisque Meadow-2(2)A09A2262

So, this is a normal shot of desolated flower meadow.

(Lens was pretty sharp Leitz Elmarit 35 mm F2.8 on Canon 5D Mk-III)

Karenisque Meadow-2(3)A09A2293

Then during the exposure, whole camera was intentionally shaken to

make a picture blurred. (Here, Softness was made using Google Picasa.)

karenisque Meadow-2(4)A09A2294

Karenisque Meadow-2(5)A09A2296

Karenisque Meadow-2(6)A09A2297

As a water painting like image,  those blurred pictures aren’t too bad.

I like Opal like flaky color though, they are no way near to Karen’s image.

There is no depth and the atmospheric air here which I have to work further.   🙂

(Original photo has to be a good landscape picture with the air of depth.  =

Blur or softness may give an etherly touch though, softness alone wouldn’t

make a good photo, and the digital manipulation makes  the image “Graphical”

= remote from Photograph.)

Karenisque Meadow-2

Karenisque-Meadow(1)A09A2205

Among the photo-bloggers in the WP sphere,  Karen McRae must be one of

the most distinguishable creative photographer.

When I first encountered her photos, woods under the snow, I found a peculiar

invisible “Air” in her photo, —– somewhat behind or beyond the image.

Not only that, she often experiment and showed incredible new “View” of

rather mediocre subject —– such as a road-side grass from a moving car.  =

In fact, I’ve dubbed her blurred  photos of grass as “Karenisque photo”  🙂

(Blime, [Karenisque Photo] was listed in the Google now)

How she could make rather plain view of empty grass field to an artistic image

with a depth of air is a mystery to me.   —– but at least,  why not try myself.

(But I shouldn’t forget, Karen is a painter too ! )

Karenisque-Meadow(2)A09A2178

Spreading to the horizon, the empty grass field — is out of question in London.

— still, why not, that desolated flower meadow ?

Karenisque-Meadow(3)A09A2184

In deed, shake the camera is easier and cheaper than driving a car.

Karenisque-Meadow(4)A09A2192

Karenisque-Meadow(5)A09A2194

Karenisque-Meadow(6)A09A2201

Karenisque-Meadow(7)A09A2187

Karenisque-Meadow(8)A09A2200

With shaky camera, inevitably the image would be blurred

—– though, it wasn’t necessary true.  Since the Homemade Lens has

fixed F4.5 equivalent of Iris opening, even with lowest ISO setting, I needed

to see the light well dropped to the 1/15 ~ 1/4 shutter speed level.

= It was 8:00 evening.   🙂  ~~~~~ Whatsoever the technical side,  the results

were no way near to the Atmospheric Karenisque Image.

Her subtle still impacting image creating skills are miles ahead.  🙂

(Of Course I wouldn’t anticipate to clack the secret of her creation which she

achieved with almost obsessive effort,  by me tring 10~100 times guess work. )

Greenwich Park — and the Flowers

Hoya G'Pk-2(1)A09A2034

Hoya G'Pk-2(2)A09A2044

Next to the the pond, a patch of meadow (?) was created —– quite colorful

though, they were not a kind of seedling plants,  so  it may not for the

birds but purely for ornamental purpose, I think.

Hoya G'Pk-2(3)A09A2043

Again this is the gorgeous set up for the fuzzy images.

No decent subtleness here,  just an orgy of rampant color !

Hoya G'Pk-2(4)A09A2042

Hoya G'Pk-2(6)A09A2035

Hoya G'Pk-2(6)A09A2036

Hoya G'Pk-2(7)A09A2088

Densely planted flower circle prevented me to see or take picture

in close proximity —– I have no idea what this flower was.

Still, I like this flowers attitude “Standing out, firm”   🙂

Hoya G'Pk-2(8)A09A2081

Hoya G'Pk-2(9)A09A2094

Hoya G'Pk-2(10)A09A2103

Hoya G'Pk-2(12)A09A2116

In fact, this is the outside of the park = a corner of  Blackheath.

Hoya G'Pk-2(13)A09A2120

This  is a puzzling field.   If it was in Spain, it would be a Campo de Faria kind

though I never seen such things there.  The place was left as if  nobody want to

touch. —– someone said, it was a mass-grave for the Black Death time,

hence the name Blackheath. —– Quite convincing.

As a post uploaded week ago had a title Riot of Flower (1),

this is the following one (2)   🙂     All the photos I took at the same time, looks

more or less the same, (and so many) I’m not sure whether it has been

uploaded already in different hue and trimming.   😀

—– never mind they are just a lots of flowers.

(On the process to upload here, the file of photos had been cut down from

5~10M to 500K or so, though the program seemed  no good for fuzzy image

= they became awful = so please use your imagination.    😀

(they seemed better and smoother on Android tablet screen.)

(Lens used and the camera was the same as before.)

Passionflower

Passion Flower(1)A09A1897

This flower was called  Tokei-sow, 時計草 (Clock Flower) in Japan though,

I never seen it in there but first did in  Canary Island when I was over 30.

First time when I saw a picture of this flower, I was in my Junior school,

and it was in an article of magazine about the strange plants in the world

such as Rafflesia, Farrus Titanium, Giant Lotus (Floating leaves) etc etc.

Passion Flower(2)A09A1882

Not only it’s Japanese name was really  convincing,  but also it’s structure

fascinated me so much. —– why a flower needs to have such style like a Clock.

Passion Flower(3)A09A1892

The flower looks pretty complicated, and where to hide a honey

seems complicated too.  = a Bee needed to lick all-over !

Passion Flower(4)A09A1886

Naive minded young people might have mistaken the name Passion Flower

= Passion for Hot Love kind though, the truth was,  it was named after rather grisly

Crown of  Thorn of Jesus on the Cross. That “Passion” named by Spanish missionary.

(And they tricked the indigenous people, “Look, Evidence of God is here” 😀 )

In this aspect, Japanese name sound more harmless.  —– With a kind of curiosity,

I wondered,  how on earth,  who designed a flower like this, or evolved from where ?

— I looked around the related plant, though,  this plant occupying it’s own species

and has no sister or first cousin.  —– ? ? ?     Utterly Fascinating !

—–

PS :  The Photos by  “Two Elements Homemade Lens” on Canon 5D Mk-III

(I’m amazed by the capability of this lens —– Nice macro too.  😀 )

Soba-plant — Buckwheat

Soba(1)A09A1859-002

Holly Mackerel ! —– Cosmos was a surprise but not a kind of out of scope.

But to see this one, Soba plant or Buckwheat in this country was utterly

out of my expectation. Unless you are the people from central Eurasia,

Russia, Eastern Europe, India etc, you may not have any idea of what

Buckwheat is. —– and even if you eat it before and knew the taste, still, the

most of the people didn’t know the plant of such “pseudo-cereal” came from.

Most of the staple grain is a seed of grass plant (with that long leaves) though,

this one is one of the exception, alongside the Amaranths or Quinua.

And this one came from a plant family called Polygonaceae, which is

having Knotweed, Sorrel in the family.

Soba(2)173-001

———- (Photo above : Green shiny triangular shape  are the seeds.)

While checking the Net, I realized that some of the people found a business

opportunity selling the plant seed with a kind of sweet buzz word

“Greening the environment” “Seed plant to feed the wild birds” —– m m m ?

—– I’m not happy jump into a bandwagon here.

[]

Natural environment is a complexed huge system which took long time to

establish.   Each plant may need a particular insect to pollinate etc etc,

on top of geo-climate condition.

When foreign plant was introduced (wittingly or accidentally what ever)

quite often it cause the devastating consequences.   Such as Hay Fever, =

the local population may not have an immunity against a type of pollen new

species produces —– and it may takes generations to acquire the immunity.

Before, the root of invasion of exotic species were, stowaway seeds on the

imported log, packing staff between the products etc, (it’s an old practice) but

these days it became utterly unpredictable due to astronomical amount of

trade goods. —– not mention the exotic plant or its seeds sold by the

garden center / Net outlet.

[]

This plant, Fagopyrum.esculentum / Soba-plant was to make Soba (kind of

noodle, unique to Japanese cooking) though, I realized that it was cultivated

(and eaten) in Russia most, and produced and exported from China to Japan

in huge amount.  = (In fact, 80 % of Soba, Japanese is eating, came from China

and US.)   The plant was suited to grow in a cool, dry climate and able to live

even on the poor soil.   So, in certain extent, it is true to say, this plant can change

barren hill side, green though, if we see the agricultural productivity side,

this plant has only 1/10 against the rice, it’s mean, this plant need to have 10 times

more land to support the same population.

= So, if the land was utterly useless poor land, why not to grow this plant

= it may support some people to survive or help Japanese to enjoy

a small luxury to eat a bit chewy noodle.   Ha ha ha   🙂

Fleet Street — Bicycle (?)

Fleet St-Bicycle(1)A09A1761

There isn’t much story to wright about in this post, but just a test of

that  2 elements homemade lens to take photos of general subjects.

Fleet St-Bicycle(2)A09A1721-001

Being as two plastic lens, there is not much quality to ask but the image with

full of hallation. = It’s mean, if any bright object was there, the image would

be completely eroded. —– But that is what this lens was.

Fleet St-Bicycle(3)A09A1758

The Bicycles were just happen to be there.

Fleet St-Bicycle(4)A09A1757

Fleet St-Bicycle(5)161-001

Fleet St-Bicycle(6)A09A1793

Some are quite fancy !    Though, I’m not fancy to ride this kind of purely

experimental model.   —– ( I would say, utterly impractical. 😀 )

= May be as useless as “My very homemade Lens” here.   😀

Fleet St-Bicycle(7)A09A1754

Still, I like those nostalgic, old pinhole screen like image.

Fleet St-Bicycle(8)A09A1755

And I found that this lens can produce quite usable image

if the contrast wasn’t too high.

So, it suits for the flowers in dull light.
