Images in Hackney / Fish-eye Vision
Those are the photos, which I’ve clicked the camera on the street of Hackney.
As the default of the optical design, the image was heavily distorted.
Which people dubbed as fish-eye lens effect.
Some people hate this effect saying too unnatural —- ? is it ?
Everybody knows perspective. If you see a thing in distance, it looks smaller.
Assuming, you are standing on front of a huge building, 50m tall and 100m wide.
You are standing from the central door abut 25m or so distance, facing the
building straight. = From this stance, you can just see whole building in one picture.
The building spread side to side about 120~140 degree in angle on your view.
The center of building looks so high on front of you. —– yet far away, you can see
the end of building = it looks not as high as in the center, because of perspective.
While you are standing and able to see whole building in one picture —– Don’t
you think something wrong ? = Despite the building was built with straight lines
both end of the same building looks smaller in the same time. = ONLY a conclusion
is “You are not able to see straight line as a straight line = it’s bent down in both end”
In fact, as the eyes are ball-shaped, we never see straight line in our optical image,
except the one run straight in the center. All the straight lines are in the imagination,
or “Re-construction” in our visual cortex in the brain.
So, I would say, this is our natural vision. = only the center of our eyes shows
straight line, and the both end of image, lines are converging = above, down ward,
below, up ward = you see —– or ARE you still clinging your illusion ?
Ha ha ha. I’m kidding. 😀
(In real life, if you see a straight line looked carved, you got to see a doctor.
Despite we definitely having blind-spot in each eyes, no body see any blank in
our vision, our brain re-configuring the visual signal perfect (well, more or less)
we see the straight building straight — in fact, what is “to see it as it is in open eyes”
a good question. 😀 )

Dog mourns the loss of Friend Beaver
This is a Youtube clip ” Vella (dog) mourns the loss of Beaves (beaver)”
I was told to watch. And I found myself I can add anything to say.
So, just watch and give a tear or two for them.
[]
When I was living with cats (mind you, with up to 9 of them) I even
bemused how they can read my mind.
And able to know when I was coming back, all together waiting
behind of front door. (looked like a gathering of tadpoles. 🙂 )
[]
The video clip seemed to be uploaded today, and it said to be
when the friend beaver, Beaves was suddenly found dead,
the mate Vella came into really deep mourn.

Flow-Chart of Buddhism Teachings
Flow-Chart or the Steps in the Pathway
1) Do anything which has a fixed pattern.
2) By doing it repeatedly, 100s, 1000s even million times =
3) Because the nerve signal dealing with its action has
the same pattern, our Perception and Emotion’s threshold
level rose, hence the significance of the signal will be
lost and disregarded.
4) As the action has been repeated, its pattern will be
programmed into Motor-region of the brain and the action
become automatic routine.
5) As the effects of 3) and 4), the action can be carried-out
without thinking, even out of one’s conscious.
6) In the same time of 5), the one doing the action without
one’s conscious mean, it is in the Selfless state of the mind.
7) Once the one is in its Selfless state, the things become
distant objects as if it is somebody-else’s matter, =
Detachment = the one’s Ego or Greed wouldn’t be triggered.
8) To apply the same state of mind to other aspects of the
life, the one can see everything in distance = objectively
= Clear eyes. (Gradually, the one acquire this, and once
mastered, it become free to control, if detached or not,
or which one to concentrate or ignore.)
9) And the one can see even the Self detached, objectively,
as if it is one of public, the social action start to follow
common-sense, not self-centred. (Centring self isn’t there)
10) And able to act or help others without Ego and do the
things as much as possible. (Strangely, we instinctively do
it better ! Even if it is not in competition with others and
even to useless things, it’s mean, it’s not for Ego or Greed.
—– Fundamental Pleasure ? 🙂 )
11) From those aspects, it is rational to conclude, Ego itself
is not one’s imperative, so is the Self. = Self is not naturally
exists but a product of one’s imagination or thinking.
12) Without having the Self, Ego and Greed which tend to
creates trouble and discontent = could any suffering be left ?
[]
It must be clear from this chart, all the process is pretty
natural as it follows the natural mechanism inherent to
our brain which is common to anybody, so that
Lord Buddha concluded that the Dharma which
rules us is Selfless and as it is common to anybody,
in other words, all of us has it within and Selfless.
— And it become clear, the so-called Rules of “Do this and
Don’t Do that” had been written by the person who hadn’t
actually done the practice to reach Selfless state by himself
hence, didn’t have a knowledge how the human mind
naturally works. (Real selfless person need no instruction,
nor such instruction would stay in the mind. 😀 )
[]
It must be clear. —– Is there any argument ?
___/\___
[]
PS : Though, in addition to this Chart, applying the context
of “denial” not only to the Self and suffering life, but to the
“Idea of Denial” itself, therefore, instead of being enlightened,
“being suffering” seems to be more natural = and this idea
became the stance of Mahayana Buddhism. —– Hence, Zen
says “To see NO enlightenment is the Enlightenment”
= (Anyway, no Self, what’s the matter ! )

Hacking Business
There was an interesting incident targeted to this Yoshizen Blog.
Soon after I’ve put my last post [Three times BUDDHA] somebody
hacked into my account and try to tamper my text.
As always 🙂 when I found a miss-spelling and try to edit my text,
WordPress’ Auto-save told me that there was an auto-saved
another version exists.
Looking into the script, I noticed that somebody had attempted
to delete a part of my text as you can see on the screen shot.
The target was a paragraph “to fabricate so many so-called Buddha
in Mahayana Buddhism”
Lord Buddha has used the words such as [Land Deity] [Moon Deity]
kind of name (may be for a convenience in the conversation) though,
never used such as a Sanskrit Deity, Brahman, because of the only
who, who rules whole universe is the Dharma, nothing else.
And the Dharma was not personified. = It is invisible yet spread
whole universe, down to the inside of ourselves.
That was what he believed and taught. — So, he got angry when a
Disciple couldn’t get correct understanding of the Dharma, saying
“It’s a disgrace to the Dharma” = he was quite serious.
Therefore, under the name of Buddhism, to creates another object
of worship other than the Dharma, especially importing its
figure from Hinduism is nothing but a contempt of
Lord Buddha and the Dharma.
[]
Hacking into well protected WordPress Blog is a serious business.
I wouldn’t assume it was done by a whim of silly individual = got
to be a professional, hired by the organization.
So, who was the one came through a gap of floor board like a
cockroach, instead to put a counter opinion through the front door ?
Is this a mind-set of the organisation or the sect ? — Blime !
[]
My blog is open for anybody to put a comment or two (though, any
spam which is other than a genuine comment has been completely
rejected —– except few exception, who got an interesting family
business to advertise. 🙂 ) hence, if anybody got different view,
to express its view as a comment is welcome, but don’t use
dirty hacking. —– It doesn’t work as the original was
composed on Word, re-load the same can be done in 10 min’. 🙂
And it’s counter productive to the hacker, because it would only create
another funny post like this, and that’s why my blog got 127,000 hits.
—– though, I know, quite few of hits were mislead by a search term
“xxx nude figure” kind, and end-up to see wire sculpture here. 😀

ZEN Photography
There was a very tricky question, what is Zen Photography.
Before talk about photo, what is Zen is harder enough.
Still, in few occasions, to see a photo — m m m ? !
THIS must be the Zen !
[]
The Matter is, how the visible image contains beyond of what it shows.
= How invisible, unknowable element has been captured in the photo !
Not a mere suggestive image but has overwhelming power of existence !
Which has been seen by the clear-eyes of Zen, and captured in Mushin.
= Mushin mean without a manipulative intention.
It is even better if it was in Ichijo with the subject, or the photographer
was completely absorbed by the subject.
And such photo starts to shows its own “raison d’ etre” as strong as the
existence of the subject itself, because the Dharma of the subject and
the Dharma of the photographer has been fused together, or in Ichijo.
[]
There are some different approach among the so-called Zen paintings.
Some did symbolical approach, such as a drawing of a Potato.
—– Humble, ubiquitous, utterly insignificant object, still, because it is
utterly insignificant, this could be the Universe or the Dharma.
But this is a very intellectual approach, expecting the viewer to see it
in Zen context. —– To convey this concept, may be it’s even better to
leave a paper blanc, hence, [nothing] could mean everything =
the whole Universe.
In the same time it would save a ink and a time, bother to draw anything. 😀
—– Something similar but different approach is, just one straight line or
a circle on the paper = in this case, it is not only a superimposed idea in
a drawn-line but the action to draw it, was the Zen.
[]
In the photography, the same symbolical approach wouldn’t necessary work.
A photo of one potato would leave little imagination of anything else.
It is just a potato = “Is this a symbol of Universe ? You got to be Joking” 😀
In the other-hand, photography is very easy to make an ambiguous
confusing image, by just make it out of focus, burred image or almost
disappearing over-exposure, under-exposure, even with multiple exposure,
and those vague image makes our brain to abandon to read the
meaning of the image, we were left in the blanc mind, wordless.
[]
Intellectual symbolism works in a way = “It shouldn’t be just a boring
Potato. It must be something behind, otherwise the painter wouldn’t have
worked to draw this”
In contrast, it is very difficult to see a meaning from a photograph,
since even in a photo with intentionally placed potato looks the same as
an accidental photo of potato. (Drawing wouldn’t be made without
intention, still, even an accidental click makes one photo. :-))
Unless the meaning was clear, we wouldn’t go behind and the graphical
digital manipulation of a photo would rarely convey this meaning,
because we see it only as a graphical purpose in after process, not in an
original meaning, unless the effect match the subject naturally.
[]
—– in the time of film photography, high-temperature development of
high-speed film created rough-grain photo which showed harsh reality such
as in Sebastiao Salgado’s photo, though, to mimicking the effect with digital
manipulation in high-contrast only creates irritating harsh image =
photo looks harsh but not necessary make the reality looks harsh !
In other words, superficial graphical effect doesn’t affect much to the
meaning of the photo, let alone in its spirituality. (In Paintings, spirituality
is relying on mostly in its narrative subject and our subconscious connect
it to a spiritual legend or feeling of owe = it’s in our imagination.
But in photography, it also emanated from its atmosphere or enigmatic
air which makes our perception suspicious.)
[]
Spirituality in the photography lies in either overwhelmingly
strong reality of the subject which provoke our imagination, or
ambiguous depth of air in the image which strikes our emotion.
Therefore, the Zen photography (visual, not a wishful conceptual photo,
which can hit a subconscious of the viewer, before reading brah brah)
exists in two different direction.
One is finely detailed photo of overwhelmingly heavy subject.
Other is a hint of rather humble object still having full of
ambiguous air. —– Either case, the photo will hit the viewer
straight, with the former, facing with overwhelming reality, owe
to the Dharma, the later, with its unknowable field of infinity.
In either case, we just abandon the thinking, standing alone
naked, dumbstruck.
This is the Zen Direct transmission.

Still Blooming = Perpetual Cherry
This is the same Cherry tree, I’ve shown you three times before, but always out of season.
Last time, it was a month ago. And since then it kept blooming without a brake.
In order to highlight the flowers, this time I photographed her with flashlight. 🙂
But for the reference, the photo above, center is without flash. And right photo is another
ordinary cherry tree which shows no sign of flower yet — may be takes another 2 weeks ?.
This tree never in full bloom still, always some (20% ?) = so far, continuously blooming
since last October, November. —– Now, the end of March, its mean even Kan-zakura
(Winter Cherry) is in the end of the season. = in other words, this tree is different from
any other variety = This is the Perpetual Type ? 🙂 — Beyond this time, I should keep
watch how this tree does in the Summer. (I should have done it in the last Summer.)
As you might noticed, I was totally fascinated by this Cherry tree. 😀
What caused her to keep blooming continuously ? (It’s not weather or sunlight. So, What ? )
[]
PS: Now in the middle of April, this Cherry is in full bloom. 🙂

Our Perpetual Life ? ? ?
I’m in a mess of clearing and sorting out the mountain of junks piled-up in the past ten years
or so. (Not a clean Zennist’s like situation. 😀 —– I’m doing too many things hence people
keep asking my help or advice, since my help is free 😀 = there is no time to let them go.
And I’m getting a help from others too = I don’t think I should isolate myself from this world.)
—– Only the trouble was, when I was busy making something for an art event kind, it was
always in a hurry, and soon after, another project might start = therefore, the materials used
etc has been just piled-up. What makes situation even worse was, I buy “Could be useful,
one day” kind of things, or picking up them from the street.
They are in a shallow box etc, though, box on top of box has built mountains. Ideally, I should
have line of shelves in a warehouse with multi-indexed stock management system though, it’s
a far fetched dream for a humble poor man. 😀
No doubt, in a clean-up process, something unexpected item coming-out between
a pile which I’ve been looking for, or completely forgotten. A ha, it’s here. 🙂
[]
What annoying trouble I found was, after years, a cleaning blush kind of cheap
plastic product and particularly the Tesco bags has been disintegrating.
I don’t think the manufacturer expected the people would use their products more than a
year, hence they used cheap material to make-up the item. —– So, I shouldn’t be surprised.
And the Tesco is Proudly announcing that in consideration for the environmental issue,
their bag is biodegradable.
It’s mean, me to left those things under the pile was solely my fault. —– still, I feel annoying
was = may be I still expecting the same must be there intact = my Ego and the greed.
The real trouble is, once I touch them, those disintegrating materials in deed
disintegrates and the small flakes scatter all over, literally spreading a mess.
It’s not funny.
[]
Even though we know nothing is permanent, still the system has to work in an
assumption of every components stays the same in a same condition.
In order to keep the same condition, our body is keeping the same body-temperature and the
same constitution such as the same salinity of the blood (well, more or less) and so on.
To keep the body in the same condition, the parts which is naturally worn-out will be
replenished and renewed constantly = And to make it same as the original, DNA template was
used though, to keep copying again and again, mistake would occur.
It’s the same to a Chinese whisper, once mistaken, the same wrong-pattern will be copied.
Wrong pattern of Gene could create cancerous cell. On the end, our body became no longer able
to keep its function. It’s a system bleak-down. —– This is how we get old and die on the end.
[]
Against this situation, many researches are tackling those problems.
Only a week ago, one Japanese institute announced that they found a chemical which would
prevents the brain cell deteriorates and prevents Alzheimer developed = disease would be
prevented by just an injection.
Another institute succeeded to continuously clone the mouse, over 5 years, 27 generations
so far, and made more than 580 cloned mouse = while preventing the deterioration of
the genes and their futility. Life science is really advancing in amazing speed.
[]
So, we human could gain the perpetual life in foreseeable future while
leaving other life form and biodegradable plastic to disintegrate. —– ? ? ?
Is it anything to welcome ?
Because, the matter is not just our internal system. We have to see the implication to the
external system as well. Those systems are closely intertwined as a total system called
Dharma in the Buddhist’s term, which has been refined throughout the time, in past billion
of years. We may not able or allowed to tinker one corner without affecting the other part.
Our perpetual life could be detrimental to the planet’s Ecosystem. 😀
—– Well, I should talk about this serious subject in the near future.

YOU or Potato ?
Have you ever seen a bean or maze seed dropped to the garden, sprout.
Or did you ever planted vegetable such as potato, even a carrot in a soil and see them
shoot up. — Yes they are alive in deed. Still, we do fly, boiled alive and eat them.
Don’t make an excuse, they don’t have a sense, intelligence or feel pain = who knows.
(Have you ever been a Potato to make a first-hand report of being cooked alive. 😀 )
[]
We are all living on a margin of thin blue line of compromise and
dependency. We are just be here on borrowed time on probation.
So, don’t preach others with smug face, for conservation or environment what so ever.
= (Before preach, get rid of your cotton pants which was made by forcibly cultivated,
harvested and processed cotton flower, and stop eating vegetable which was grown for
money in a field where tree has been uprooted. ) = Guilty party keeps mouth shat 😀
In other words, there couldn’t be any quiet peaceful life = life is inherently noisy and
filled with all sorts of bothersome trouble. That’s what the life in Samsara is.
[]
Zen wouldn’t make you noble.
Zen teach you how to cut onion, potato (not mention Lemon :-)) efficiently without any
hesitation or wobble. (So does to do the business. Make you Just Do It. 🙂 )
And the Buddhism teachs you who you are = no different from a potato, yet still very
unique one. (I didn’t say you ARE Potato if not very close — a man of half potato must
be genetically very very unique = I never seen one though. :-D)
Therefore, Buddhism makes you absolutely humble and absolutely confident to be YOU.
(as one of guilty party which is natural.) No one is perfect or innocent = What’s wrong?
Wrong is, to imagine you are right, while wearing cotton pants and live in this world
still believing that you are right, is only in your imagination which is called delusion.
—– By the way, I didn’t say if it was a sheen nylon French-nicker, it would be OK,
though I don’t mind to see one. (As I’m one of the guilty) Ha ha ha 😀
(To live in Samsara is heavy enough, yet still, how heavy unnecessary load called Pretense we are carrying.
Still, some people preaching, wearing a mask of Pretense is they called Decency, and keep Pretending it 😀 ))
Let all those heavy load to go, is what Buddhists call [Enlightenment] !
(Its mean, if you are a Potato, DO live a life of proud POTATO
IS the Enlightenment ! ! !
= Even a Potato can get Enlightenment,
why not an ordinary man on the street.

Foreign Notion
—————- — Tsurugi-dake 剱岳(富山県) (2999 m high)in Winter.
Among the old members of our Alpine Club, since one of member lost 4 of her friends in
avalanche in the Tsurugi mountain —– some Email conversation has been taking place.
In there, famous words of George Mallory = “Why you go to mountain ?”
“ Because it’s there” quoted again.
Though, the nuance in Japanese is slightly different. = It has been treated somewhat
special philosophical words 🙂
[]
—– If there is a field near house, kids or whoever walk into the field. If a river running,
kids or adults alike may jump into and have a fun, swim or even fishing.
—– Is it anything special ? = Mallory meant exactly the same. He meant,
it is nothing special even goes to mountain is just another activity of the
daily life = why not 🙂
But, when it was translated into Japanese “何故なら,山がそこに在るからだ/ Naze-nara,
Yama ga soko-ni arukara da” it started to have (or misunderstood) something special.
(One of the reason was, as the translator configured the words in formal “Translation style”
and no Japanese says like it in a casual conversation = more likely they say
“Datte, soko-ni aru ja nai ?” or “Soko-ni arukara sa”
—– from its style and a heavy connotation (because, Mallory was a famous man = not
a man on the street) the people took “It should have something heavy extra meaning” 😀
[]
When I read the English translation of [Heart Mantra] in the first time, it
literally astonished me how it was simple and plain.
No ghost, no mambo-jumbo left there at all. —– In certain extent,
Buddhism seemed to have lost its mythical connotation to me.
Japanese read Buddhist’s mantras in Chinese written form (with a lots of unfamiliar
complicated characters :-)) therefore the word itself sound literally foreign, not
mention the vagueness of its meanings => giving very mythical connotation.
[]
The situation is the same in most of the foreign cultures, even in a cooking.
= Western people complains, when Japanese boils pasta, it was over boiled to too soft.
In the same time, eastern people complains “Why westerner cook noodle so soft and
make it soggy” —– as they didn’t know what it should be in the original form, they
tend to think “If it was still raw, it must be awful, so that it is safer to cook longer”
and end-up eating quite unlikely food 😀
Mimic the action is easy though, to know where to stop the action needs
to be grown-up in its culture.
(I’ve learned this while clapping the hand in the Flamenco-dance Music 😀 )
[]
On the time of Lord Buddha, I don’t think the most of his followers were literate. And
Lord Buddha didn’t teach them in sophisticated Sanskrit but in colloquial Pari.
And, I don’t think it was a complicated philosophical or mythical thought but more likely
plain wisdom in the daily life. —– it’s mean, when the teachings were written down
after 200 years lapse, it is easy to guess, the teachings were much more formalized and
glorified by the person who were well educated (hence familiar with Sanskrit = Vedic
notions) while following the Sanskrit literature and its notions as a model.
This must be the reason why even in the earliest scriptures still having many
contradictory descriptions especially in the point,
Lord Buddha has denied the existence of the perpetual soul (Atman in Vedic belief) why
the past or future life exists = Mix-up with Brahmanism (Hindu) occurred in very early stage.
[]
It happens even within the same culture, it would be inevitable between foreign culture.
To drink a tea with different mix of formula, such as in India, garlic in a tea believed to be
good to cure the cold. Chinese treat the tea as a herbal drink, though to make it as a level
of Ceremony seems to be an over-boiled pasta 😀
So, I wouldn’t go to the idea if Mallory believed that the mountain has
a holy spirit.—– “It’s just there”
(The reason why the Buddhists treat the Dharma mythical is because
the most of it is unknowable and invisible to our humble eyes.)
