FORMURA in DHARMA

I have written about how Leonardo Davinch was obsessed with his Masonic belief a while ago.

And it is well known that the Masonic people has been trying to figure out the fundamental rule of

the universe in its proportion or mathematical formula, hence the architectural proportion of

the old temple etc.

Fibonacci number / its rule of consecutive numbers are one of the rules found in nature —–

since they thought, it should have the ultimate power of rule of universe. etc etc.   ( It is true, some plants

and its order of distribution of  leaves or seeds on the pod shows certain pattern, hence certain formula

which lead to the discovery of the very Fibonacci number ) —– so what ?

non

Unfortunately, there is no such magic formula to solve the trouble in the human life.

If the perfect proportion of the old temple have had any mythical protective power of the universe,

it couldn’t have been destroyed.

It is a tendency of the dream of lazy and yet greedy man —— to grub the power and the fortune

by tricking using the simple and easy formula —– and believing such things could ever exist.

Non

Of cause, Buddha taught no such things could ever exists, and such idea is nothing

but a delusion. —– though, some Mahayana Mantras having many fancy super natural stories.

A man who read Diamond Mantra and wanted to gain such super natural power, asked me to teach

the secret of Zen. (since he believed I’ve got it —– how nice complement 😀 )

non

Give a thought or two to what Buddha taught —–

Fixed formula which got only few parameters only works to the fixed, limited condition.

Buddha said, nothing stays permanent and keep changing moment to moment = out of

reach of any fixed formula.

Such formula is a product of our poor thinkings —– how we can rely such idea when the author,

ourself is unreliable.   Even its existence is not certain.

Above all, what is the intention to get such secret formula for — to get the good result quick ?

To get power and the fortune in easy way ? = What a greed and the arrogance.

Such greed or arrogance negates any virtue of the Buddhism.

One Buddhists sect recruiting the people saying “Get happiness quick“— though, such idea to appeal

the people’s greed negates Buddhism itself.   ( You can see, despite they are taking a lots though they

are the most miserable people — only able to repeat what was written in the book, and thinking  Happy)

Strange Paradox of  Goodness in the  Buddhism only came  out of  absolute nothing. From No expectation.

non

Buddha didn’t give an answer to many questions — long time myself has been thinking, because

it was not necessary for us to know, — though I realized, it was the very answer Buddha intended to give.

The answer itself is a notion, whether it was said by Buddha or not.  When the notion itself and

the condition based upon it couldn’t exist in a fixed form, there couldn’t be

a fixed answer = no answer is the very answer.

—– Then all the another pieces of his teachings fallen into the jigsaw —– that’s why the clear eyes to

see the Dharma is essential = Dharma itself is not fixed entity, it changes a moment to moment,

hence the flow of response is essential. The free mind, not cringe to any fixed idea, away from any

deluded idea or belief is essential = Mind of No-Mind is the key to see the Dharma.

Its mean, the compliance to the situation is the matter. See the situation as it is.

And the response on this moment may not be the same to a response a moment ago.

Its mean, there is no fixed formula. Or no-formula is the ultimate formula.

No quick fix with anticipation exists.

Don’t worry with bad anticipation, until its happened, it hasn’t happened yet.

When it’s happened, then, take best action —– as long as you keep your eyes clear,

the situation you see is far better than misguided anticipation.

Flexible structure is much stronger even in an earthquake.

This is the Buddhism.   Buddhists never miss the moment.

Nostalgia

Posted in Art, Awareness, Emotion, Ethos, Fun to read :-D, Intelligence, Mind, Music, Photography, Subconsciousness by yoshizen on May 22, 2011

Yesterday I popped out with my camera with

ever loved fish-eye lens to meet a friend photographer.

non

With a sort of fixture when ever I have to go out in this kind of

occasion, the sky is blue, sun is shining (in fact, too much for

photography) —–.

Waking from a camera shop where I bought two SLR bodies for

5 pound each for spare parts, I literally came across a charming

graffiti and an artist working on it at the notorious [Authorized

Graffiti Space] railway under-path near Waterloo Station.

non

In one glance, as I felt the image is somewhat Japanese hence I thought the guy is Japanese.

But he turned out to be rare Thai-Mexican mix and a graduate of an Art School here.

So, the image on the wall is not a Japanese [Okame] face —– 😀

—– What so ever, it’s having strange nostalgia.   The trouble of this kind of very deep latent

memory is, it is hard to figure out its origin.   In fact, non of Japanese woman got a face like that

—– but why I felt it is a Japanese Okame ? ? ? —– was it an illustration of a children’s book I saw

when I was very small ?   Or ancient paintings ?

( At the dawn of Japanese culture, the paintings remain now showing those round cheeks and smooth

round face, hence the explanation of the teacher was “It must be the Korean beauty’s face then” as

those cultural influences came from China through Korea though I never seen no such faces

among the Korean women now)

non

—– or more fundamental nostalgia / common ancient memory even shared by Thai-Mexican ? ? ?

Seeing some other drawings of the artist at his website – sniffsniff.co.uk – (Please Google it. It’s

fascinating enough to click) I found, it was not necessary to be Japanese but his own style — even

his another drawing of western woman having same kind of rather smooth, somewhat innocent,

naive faces —– may be originated from his own memories of childhood —– hence having

no element of eroticism. I like the art which appeals to my subconscious —– and make me puzzle

but more importantly —– gave a kind of soothing, —– listening a far distant lullaby like feeling.

non

After all, we are not living on the sophisticated, complex idea but on the basic feelings.

We may debate or argue about idea or ideology though, unless those idea has made sense and

fused into our subconsciousness, it wouldn’t intertwined or influence our feelings.

On the conscious thinking process, we can think anything we know (even about a new information

just acquired on the spot ) though, that information may soon be forgotten.

But a deep imprinted fact ( in the long-term memory) or its feeling remains almost for ever —–

even after we all forgotten associated facts which tells where and when etc. some information

or latent memories affect our feeling and even a judgement.

(Unless the new information came with shocking impact otherwise repeated again and again, it

wouldn’t become long-term memory / a memory stacked in the subconsciousness )

Still when we rediscovered long forgotten or hidden old memories, it gave us a bit of shock.

—– this is why we need an art which joggled our memory or mind —– as the artists are

good to communicate and able to express their own subconscious.

(The deeper he can go, it will be common with more people —– same as the music)

non

Illusion of PERMANENCE

A decade or two ago, when we saw the dawn of digital photography, we were told

and believed that the digitized photo will be safe and permanent.

Unlike silver based photo image which is vulnerable to the chemical deterioration

etc. digitized information is the most reliable, solid archive of the recording.

—– Really  ? ? ?

non

After nearly three decade, the people who bought early CD music, started to notice

that their disc has been deteriorated and no longer playable due to the

ageing of the plastic material.

CD player just show you a sign [ No Disc ] or music became corrupt and repeat the

same passage again and again. —– The average life of CD is 20 years.

Considering the 100-year-old Wax-cylinder Gramophone Record still able to give the signals out,

I wonder what an advancement of technology was.

non

And I noticed, some photos saved in a USB flash memory has become [ Invalid ] —– ? ? ?

Data was just evaporated.  Since I have no idea what  image existed there.   I just give up.  Nothing I can do.

—– The data in the flash memory last 5 years.

non

HDD / Hard disc is notoriously fragile animal.  One drop would nullify hundreds of Giga byte of data instantly.

( Mechanical and electrical life span of HDD is about 5 years.    Therefore, you may need to copy the data

again to new HDD, before trouble occur )

It is absolutely true. Digitized image never changes and as it is the simplest form of the

information which consists only 1 and 0, it would be most reliable form.   Yes, Information is,

but not a media which recording or storing them.   Without a media, the data can not exists.

And the danger of electrical glitch which corrupt the data or OS could be always there.

The more you open the file, the more chance to have it.   The larger the HDD, having the more danger.

(Just imagine, a  2.5″  HDD disc on the photo having less than 5 square inch surface. —– Assuming, on there

30 Giga x 8 magnetized (and not magnetized) dot are aligned —– you know how small they are.

Picking up the data, whether each point was magnetized or not, from the disc which is rotating  5400 round

a minute —– it is an incredibly tricky business, even when everything worked perfect = soon or later,

something not perfect come to affect the over all function = you no longer able to read the data.  That’s it. )

A collection of Photos and Video images I had been accumulated in my old laptop which I have copied into

a USB flash memory to read in my new laptop was just disappeared all together.    4 Gb size of data has just gone.

The screen shows ” File is empty / 0 bite ” —– great !

( Later, I recovered the lost file in the  4Gb USB memory using [ Mini Tool Power Data Recovery, Free Edition

program ]  which I downloaded free —– saved about 15,000 files out of 20,000 though, all jumbled-up, without

caption or file name = you know,  How the situation is nightmarelish —– 😦   and   😀  )

non

In this situation and its hard reality, the internet data storage service was born —- though, like my experience,

one day its might just disappear.   Service might be withdrawn, even by human error,  or the file even the

site management itself could be hacked in, and the data could be lost.  The more important the data is, it would

be the more profitable for the hacker to steal it.  The Cloud computing may seem very convenient and

very very powerful though,  of cause,  such concentration of the data can be seen just as a huge

treasure trove,  and inevitably attract the organized cyber criminal.   Cynical irony is, even if the

data has been extremely highly encrypted, billion combination of code can easily  be deciphered

using even more computing power of the Cloud. —– Nothing is safe and permanent.

So that the wise mind-set is, —– accept its nature, it might be there, might not be there,

and live with which is remained to be there.

If the photo is there, use it.  If not there, it’s not there.   Never cling the idea  [It should be there ].

(Better keep the crucial data locked up as a print-out copy —– then how about a fire ?  😀 )

non

Your loved one might be there and smiling at you.

You enjoy it,  but might not be there any longer,  still not to be desperate.

You enjoy your precious memory. —– Live on what you got in your hand.

___/\___ Have a peaceful day.

PS: ( Photo above was taken by Canon 5D Mk-II with TSE 24 mm-L II — This is a pretty well made good lens )

Baby Baby

There was a BBQ in my friend’s place, and I checked the palm lines of my friends

Lukas and Lucy’s baby Lia’s. —– Hm —– hm hm !

Anyhow, a baby is —– fundamentally cute.

Why CUTE ?

A notion of beauty came from the eyes of grown-up’s. Therefore, it

needs the exact shape and the proportion etc etc.

A baby got everything out of proportion.   Big eyes big round cheeks short legs

etc etc.   Hence they are not beautiful but cute or pretty.

non

Beautiful woman is the eyes to appreciate —– though not necessary nice to talk with.  Especially too perfect

beauties often repel us.  Or at least me.  ( Anyhow I know I don’t match them.  Ha ha ha  😀  )

The charm point, which attract us is somewhere a little bit out of perfection.   Out of proportion.

So, the charming point lies between perfection and a monster. —– So that, a bit out of standard is a charm,

but  if it’s gone too far makes a monster.  How much [a bit] is depend on the individual taste.  Some likes more

and some got taste of even a monster.  In most of  case, where the people feel charming and cute, such

as big eyes etc are in fact the typical feature of the baby.

Cute disarm and open the mind of grown-ups and make them feel joy.  So, everybody loves it.

Simply because the babies are absolutely harmless (except few historical accidents 🙂 )  and the living sample of

the glory of the life  ( save the pain and the hardship of the parents found in reality  🙂 )

If anybody really encounter a creature 6 feet tall looks like a baby in the picture, definitely frighten them

though, here, she is just a small baby,  only makes you smile.

Isn’t she CUTE ?

Landscape — or Memory-scape ?

Landscape ? or Memory-scape ?

I don’t know. It’s a photograph. Sir.

Where the IMAGE came from ?

It came from a memory-card of my camera.

So, you photographed this, what was the subject ? Was that a Landscape or Abstract ?

What you mean Abstract ? Abstract of WHAT ?

That is what I’m asking.

Ask the Camera please. 😀 —– It might be De-ja-Vu. Sir.

So, your camera can take picture of your mind inside ?

What a fancy imagination you got. Sir. When we faced the situation, what I can do is

either press the button —– or not. I have only two choice.

So, you are doing Zombie photography. 😀

How nice. Very funny. This is Zen Photography   Sir.

That’s why I’m saying Zen is Dog Shit.

Dog Shit or not, can’t you see the scape somewhere where ever, not remember when but

far far away, long long time ago or in a future, we might have seen or may see one day.

You don’t need to think What is this about, but as long as the image absorbs your feeling,

and make your mouth shut, it’s all what needed.

—– But obviously this one didn’t make my mouth shut.

So I say.  Shut your mouth.  Just look it.  You are thinking too much.

You are violating my fundamental human right of Freedom of Expression.

Oh, bollocks. Preach to the camera.

What a dog shit.

———- Not much peace here. Ha ha ha 😀

ZEN in PHOTOGRAPHY

A PHOTO. —– is it ?

Looks like a reflection —– isn’t it ?

If it was the case,  what is the original object ? —– I don’t care. 🙂

Somewhat definable is a water-plant isn’t it ?

Is it ?

It’s a corner of this world  just round a corner, nothing there.   Sir.

Is it ?    I thought it’s the Universe.

—– ? ? ?   How do you know ?

Because it looks like a floating  Dog Shit, like a rock garden in Kyoto !

How nice !   It’s supposed to be a visualization of Claude Debussy Sir.

So, that’s why it sound Dog Shit.

Absolutely Correct. ( Don’t be serious, this is a joke  😀  )

PAIN CLINIQUE

HEALTH  WARNING : In this post, some description may give you a distress.

———————————-Anybody squeamish, may better avoid reading this.

With a release of a film depicting a man cut off his own arm to survive, when he was trapped under fallen rock

—– many more stories of the people who did the same has been appearing in the media.

To face such dreadful incredible situation, how human psyche works, became a topics of the neuroscientists

and the pain researchers.

And the scientists discovered an interesting phenomenon that the mind-set can control the pain.

—-

The man actually cut off his arm and  freed himself described the moment  ” There was amazingly not

much feeling or pain, hence able to sever the fresh and the bone with cool conscious,  as if it was just a

preparation of meat for a BBQ ”

A pain research lab did an experiment and found how human brain process the pain signals with heavy

involvement of the emotion, and found the emotional preconception influence the intensity of the pain.

If the emotion was cut off, in another word, dispassionate, even a pain signal doesn’t reach to the Brain.

( As a matter of fact, I did this to deal with my toothache.  Since I don’t take any medication, neither Dentist’s.

I just accepted the pain as if I were born with it.  So, there wasn’t a pain.

But able to do this resulted, no teeth left. —– sound awful isn’t it   You may say, it’s not Middle Way though,

it was not any extreme.  Simply there wasn’t a pain to endure.  It was just another day. 😀  )

But with exaggerated emotion and the fear, even the same stimuli can give far more pain.

———- These facts signify and prove the Phenomenon in the Zen Buddhism.

Preconception adjust the body’s physiology, such as rising Adrenalin level, hence heart rate etc, ready to

encounter the critical situation, but so often the case, it over shoots, setting the tension too high and making

a feeling and sensitivity to the pain even higher, then even creating an exaggerated image to be a miserable

victim etc, and making the life even more dreadful.

In the opposite case, if a man contemplated the situation and totally accept it and able to see that

” There is no way left and it is no use to complain or fight against it “ —– This absolute mind-set

(in Buddhist term, Mindfulness ) and absolute dispassion ( Mushin ), would even block the pain, and makes

the man to see the situation in cool head.    ( Because no emotion clouding the eyes )

This mind-set is —– as it involves the control of the emotion, it situated in the Old-Cortex deep in the brain,

right next to the Hippocampus, Limbic System, with its close proximity, it affects the physiology too.

The mind makes you to get ill, but in the other hand, it can alleviate your pain and misery as well.

—– Repeated Buddhism practice will make you to get lid of useless thoughts, and

the state of the no mind = Mushin  makes you to do the job dispassionately and efficiently.

—– Once you master this, you can free your mind in any situation.  You are no longer a prisoner of  Emotion.

You don’t need to learn this when you are facing life or death situation. —– So, buy Buddhism now, while

you can, while you are in Peace. —– It never cost you  for your arms and legs  😀

PS:  No,no. The photo above is nothing to do with the story.  The beautifully tattooed DNA pattern is

—-my  friend  Michael’s very active healthy arm.  Photo was just happened to be in my album and

—-going to be published in a book, collection of the Scientific Tattoo.

—-I haven’t asked him how much pain he had to endure though, I think it wasn’t much anyway  😀

—- ( It only scratched the skin, —–  never went to the bone ! )

Cyber Space / BLOG-SPHERE

To see is its OK there,  I’ve Googled and clicked  [ kinetorori ] , —— in my amazement,

I found there are 200 items under this key-word. —— What ? How come ?

There are only 2  kinetorori in the whole Syber Space.  One is my Youtube name.  And other is in a post

of this blog where I’ve talked about an image I had put into Youtube.

Out of two how  those 200 items  bore out ?   ( I haven’t clicked  those, I don’t know what they are  😀 )

Another funny finding was, the collection of the comments I had put to the other blog-site, such as

[ tokyo 1000 ]—— Yah, I remember certainly I did. —– After many months, and reading back those,

I found its rather fun  😀  ( It’s in the [ backtype.com ]—– in the first page of [ yoshizen blog ] at Google )

( Of cause, the original exchange of comments with reference photo has more fun at [ Tokyo 1000 ]. )

We are in a strange false environment or utterly artificial communication sphere.

I have virtually no idea who this  Tokyo 1000 is.  If I bumped him on the street or even in an exhibition space,

I don’t think I ever exchanged single word with him.  Nor, even if I saw a notice of his photo exhibition

in an art listings,  I don’t think I ever attempt to go there.  Simply, because I don’t know him.

Since when we are in our far ancestor’s time ( kind of animal then 🙂 ) we keep so-called Psychological

distance to each other, —– closer relations to alien.  Distance is proportional.

So far I picked up some clue about this man  Tokyo 1000, he lives in Tokyo, 24 years old University student,

a mountain trekker, ex(?)- graffiti artist,  etc. ( Of cause I can read a bit more between the lines and able

to guess something from his photos though ) —– Yet, two people who are having totally different life,

still able to share a topics and freely exchange opinions in equal ground —— How democratic !

—– What intrigued me about this  Tokyo 1000 was, a  man who didn’t have any knowledge about

photography,  just started to take picture and blogging. —— rather successfully  🙂

thanks to a pretty well designed small camera.

To be naive, often exposes the truth, true nature and the true self.  Because there was no prerequisite

thoughts or pretense which clouding the eyes.  ( But rest of time, the picture is utterly dreadful.  😀 )

All about photography is, —– how to see the subject. 90% of How is the reflection of the personality

of the photographer / author.  ( And rest of  10% is the limitation of both subject and the camera ).

——- Yet still, regardless who he is, I could make quite funny comments,  thanks to this Cyber Space.

( rather ilresponsively  😀 —— hence, it is fun to read )

After all,  both of us are anonymous,  neither photos or scripts having such as copyright issue, and able to

make fun of each other —— then somebody else also came into the game, and made fun of us using

our materials and created yet another space for AD.

Whats so ever,  if there wasn’t WordPress  ( and they ( accidentally ) created Blog-site of mine ) there was

no Yoshizen ever appeared in this world. —— and I might have remained silent ( So, the world could

have kept its peace. — Ha ha ha  😀  )

Only a drawback to do Blogging is,  it consume a bit of time,  especially for a non native English speaker,

typing by one finger while making funny mis-spelling —– is not easy business.  Though, one reader said

funny mis-spelling is a part of fun here.—– m m m ?   Thank you very much.  Quite an encouragement.

Life having quite unexpected twist and turn and above all, a fun hidden in its sleeve.

—– Incidentally,  Tokyo 1000 suddenly stopped to post new photo, and its happened when it got

158th post —– m m m ? ? ?  ( Please refer to 8150 Story ) —– was this a halt by the Dharma ?

( I hope, he is still alive and kicking, expecting to have fun-full festive season with his girl friend —–

question is which one ?  🙂  )

Standard VIEW

Posted in Art, Awareness, Evolution of Brain, Intelligence, Mind, Natural Harmony, Photography, Who is Yoshizen by yoshizen on November 26, 2010

You may know there is the camera lens called standard lens (and the wide-angle lens, tele-photo lens etc).

Is it a kind of lens, camera manufacturer arbitrarily named it, just for a convenience ?

Or, is there any standard of vision exists ?

Whether you aware or not, you are looking an image, photo or painting  with standard view.

You may not believe it —— so, just try, and find it.

Look at a cover photo on the magazine and a poster on the wall ——- have you done ?

Do you noticed,  when you see a cover photo of a magazine,  with  what distance did you look at it.

The distance from your eyes to the magazine was about 12″~14″ (30cm ~ 35cm) as this distance gives

the most clear vision. (unless you got short or far eye-sighted)

Closer than this, you can’t see whole picture. Further than this, it’s too far to see the details.

And if the image you looked at was about A4, the diagonal size was 14″, and the eyes to cover this size

of image, the angle of view  was about 45 degrees.

When you see a big poster, you don’t look at in this distance, unless you need to see the detail. —– you

step back and see it from a distance.  Then you may realized, in fact you are looking the image always

in the same scale —— if it was small, you give a close look, and see a big image from the distance.

The reason is, our vision in our eyes can see this size of image most clear and reasonably in detail.

If the image spread much wider, like a land-scape,  to see the whole detail we have to look around.

And if we need to see more detail such as to read the letters, we need to capture the image, in the

center of eyes,  within the angle of about 18 degrees.

So that, to see the image of 14″ size, in distance of 14″  which is about 45 degree of vision, gives best image.

Best image is in the vision of not too wide or narrowly concentrated just in the middle.  Middle way in vision.

Therefore the photographic lens which can produce this angle of view  has been  named ” Standard Lens “.

Before the digital revolution, the camera meant 35mm camera.  And the lens which gives this angle of

view was happened to be about 50mm, hence 50mm lens was accustomed to call, Standard Lens.

A photo image taken by a standard lens and printed to about 9″x 12″, viewed from 14″ away,  it looks

most natural and having the same perspective. (If the same photo was enlarged to twice big, then look it

from the twice distance, it will give the same perspective —– angle of view is still 45 degree)

—— With this reason, the great photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson was using only standard lens

(wide angle lens was for land scape only ) saying ” My lens is my eyes ” and only shot

from the normal eye level.  Because, to do his photography, he didn’t want to rely on the optical

effect but the natural way to see the life, just as an ordinary man.

So, the standard view is not only with a camera lens but our eyes having the same standard.

And this standard view, not too wide, not too narrow, just in the middle was what

the Dharma gave us.—— Therefore, this is the visual equivalent of the Middle Way.

—— Though, I hate standard lens. 😀
