Zen Decision

Posted in Buddhism, Selflessness, Subconsciousness, Zen by yoshizen on January 9, 2010

” Decision making without Thinking “

Notion is an abstracted idea of the real existence.

Like a categorized idea of ” Red ” and its Notion.  The person must  have seen thousand of different

hues before its  Notion was established  with  the group name of  Red.  Even if one’s image of Red is not

exactly same to other person, still we can communicate with others using this Notion or Word, since

as long as it has more than 60 % of  the image of the color  in common, we can communicate externally, and

internally  for the thinking process as well.  Its mean the  two system to conceive the object can go parallel ,

one is by the Word (conscious) and the other is using an  image of the original color (Subconscious process).

This Dual System making the Human intelligence unique and making the complication of

our mind hard to understand and elusive. ——— (Hence it made the Buddhists to argue 2500 years)

——————–

As I used to take photos of the flower, we in trade needed to distinguish the minute difference of

the color in different film and the different lenses.  Then I realized my eyes got different perception in

left and right eyes,  since the imaging processors, the right brain is connected to the left eye and left

to the right (crossed connection),  the processed result couldn’t  be identical. (nobody got it same)

And nobody know what is the real color. (So, the industry needed to invent  Electronic Color Analyzer to

define the exact color with the communicable numeric information)

For the sake of communication and the convenience of the thinking process,  we sacrificed the accuracy

and the reality of the raw information  which the senses and feelings  are relying on.

——————–

The trouble of the Notion (and its processing system in the brain ) is, as it uses the second source

informations(as it has been abstracted), it can alienate the reality. ( Thats why we often hear the inner voice

” M m m, its not quite” )

Also the intellectual process using the Notion (as the conscious thinking process),  it often creates own

rule of the filtration or choice of information (bias) and its own logics for the decision making.

So that, when the result was put up on front of the real world,  it can be utterly wrong.

( We tease  it ” Its a wishful thinking “, ” Too much thinking “, ” You read too far “, ” Too much pretense”etc )

——————

This is the reason,  why the decision made on the spot  when the raw information has reached to the

sensory system (see, hear etc) is more accurate. (provided, the sensory is clear, and the

subconsciousness which react to the informations is not deluded)

And this is the reason  when a Zenist making his decision,  he rely on this Instant Judgement.

(So called “Intuitive”  “spontanious” or “first impression” are nothing but this Instant Judgement—–

which is often claimed to be a speciallity of  women——and its accuracy is feared of.)

———- The Zen practice is to clear the senses and the mind, by way of the Selflessness.

Like walking without any conscious of ” I’m walking “, we can make perfect decision, based on the

” Subconscious Data Bank ” (Refer the post)  As we have far more facts and the memory of previous cases,

even the Mythical Memories stored there, we can have far more accurate judgement, in fraction of a second.

(Notorious Zen-mondo of Rinzai Zen is based on this instant judgement——-originally though)

———- we can call this instant judgement, the decision made by the Dharma.

———- sound great isn’t it !—– Yet, if this judgement was wrong,  Zenist would have no regret, as it was

his (her) own Karma. ! ! !  ——– (so, don’t blame me  Ha Ha Ha  😀 )

This is how a Zenist can have less complication in their life and able to live in peaceful mind.

Is Dharma Directing Us ? / 8150 Story

By writing this I might be punished though, as Buddha himself said to have prohibited

(in one of the earliest Scripture which was apparently written down from the memories of his words) saying, Never show off,  Never show any Miracle or Magic.

Miracle mean a kind of phenomenon demonstrating a super natural power. —– Though, my parents had been giving the advises to the others,  predicting what would happen over them and advising what to prepare.—— Incredibly those predictions were so accurate, and even a MP had been asking the advice such as the result of the Election, when my mother told, it will succeed, he succeeded and told, it will fail, he lost the seat of the Parliament. ——Funnily enough,  they didn’t use this practice to predict like a lottery win saying, it will not work to anything for an own gain as it got be done in absolute selfless state, its only works to help others.  The prediction to my exams of the Hi-school and Universities were all spot on.  Still I thought it is a mambo-jumbo and it driven me to the science and technology side where everything is visible and logical.

——————–

After left Japan I didn’t communicate with my family 2 years, drifting east to west following the wind, as I thought I was a free agent.  Though, when I happened to return Japan, and heard from my brother ( who believed, I was already dead ) that my mother did know and told him, time to time, where I was and doing what, with incredible accuracy,  I was utterly horrified,  as somebody is watching from above and know everything, even reaching to the other side of the world,

we are inside of the Shakyamuni’s palm,  we can never been a free agent.

——————–

Even though demonstrating those powers,  it seemed my parents were not punished.

So, it would be safe to tell even my story. —–(Still, if this blog suddenly stopped, you know I was dead)  Though, my stories together with so much so FACT, could still be a sheer coincidence, as it couldn’t be replicated or statistically scrutinized,  since the life is only once and couldn’t repeat the same again though, in order to avoid any doubt I’ve been keeping all the facts  with the original exhibits.    🙂

——————–

As I wrote before,  this Blog started in the chain of sheer coincidences,  I realized it must be directed by the power over there, which the Buddhist call  Dharma.   I thought, this might be the time I should  write about what I found in the Buddhism.

But in the same time I had a hidden hope, as the nature of the Internet,  I may able to ask the reader who practicing  Zen, to report me their opinion if they too witnessing the same phenomenon, which may prove in numbers of facts, that the Dharma is indeed there and working.

——————–

To my fellow Zenist.

Please look around your life and check the numbers where ever they appeared.

Bank account, Card No’  Phone No’  Friend’s Phone No’  even a No’ on a shopping Receipt, etc etc.   Is there any pattern of the combination of numbers repeated ?   Such as in my case,  they are the 8150 but in any order, like 8510, 5801- – – – all 24 combinations.

For instance,

* My Bank Account is;  0518xxxx

* My Transport Pass:  xxxx1508xxxxx

* Voda Phone Topup Card; xxxxxx0185 xxxxx

* My subscription number of Electronics Magazine Elektor is  118056

* When I wanted to buy DSLR, I noticed the Post Code of Canon Japan is  146-8051

And the Lens No’ of the Macro lens I bought together is  41805 – – –

* And an Electronic Component Manufacturer  ALPS  who I’ve kept using as they are

pretty close to my family home,  their Post Code is  145-8051

* A  Japano-Brazilian guy who stayed in my place before he went to Japan.

He sent me a letter from  Iga-City  which Post Code was  5180834

* When I needed to buy a Printer, Epson R300, I found the Algos Catalog No’ having this 8150,  so instead I bought Canon, then I found the Box sorting Code of this Printer was 5108

– – – – – – – – I can continue this even hundreds more.

(Since I found the production No’  1058- – – – – on the sugar packet,  I reduced its intake to a half)   😀

——————–

This number follows me where ever I go.

——( I’m not necessary feel comfortable, it’s a real Big Brother )

It is not  simply a good or bad Omen  though, it may indicate  ” I need a lot to do with this, Be careful.”

I have number of friends who got this in Phone No’—-they are very good friend and having contact many years and I’m keep giving advise, still never too close,  and strangely they are all left over f the group once I was associated with (such as the art group).

———- So far I never found any another set of the number repeatedly appear as a pattern.

——————–

A man who  said to be a Numerologist saw this number and told me

” In Japanese reading [ 8150 ] can be pronounced as  Ha-I-Go-Rei 背後霊——Its mean The Spirit Behind.

Spirit is communicating you”—–m m m, Sound pretty spooky !—–(you can search < Haigorei > in the Net)

———I wondered, am I obsessed, or Nuts ?   But I didn’t choose the Number, they just came and happened.

The local Iceland shop having their shop code  0158 —–if it was the case, it seems Dharma did know that I’m moving into this town before I did. ——–Yet still, can such things exist ?  Or is this happening to anybody who is living selflessly ?

If this is the case,  The Dharma is with us or we can not escape, as we are the part of it.

———-

So, if anyone noticed the same kind of phenomenon in your life please tell me.

(Of cause, it doesn’t necessary to be a number game, could be anything peculiar caught in your eyes, as Buddha found this Dharma  without seeing Phone No’ Account No’  there must be another clue)  Of cause, the one would say “Dharma is on front of you, To see it, is the matter of your eyes”

———- though it wouldn’t make the very answer.

———–

PS : In addition, I put two more very clear cases happened since after I put this post.

Is Zen, Atheist ?

Posted in Buddhism, Dharma, Selflessness, Zen by yoshizen on January 5, 2010

Among the Buddhism,  Zen has been regarded to be the most Atheistic sect,

since unlike any another sect, they don’t worship a Devine Figure or Dogma.

Certainly, there are Buddha figure or another Devine figures and images in the Temple, and in the Mantras

they read, there are numerous Devine figures appearing.

Yet, they don’t believe not only the Self but almost anything, even the very  Zenism  itself.

And in their Path way, even Buddha himself is not taking significant role because as Buddha himself

ordered in his death-bed, not worship him but his teachings, the Dharma——— STILL they are

one of the most typical practitioner of the Buddhism, as they are just doing it.

Why ?

Zen believe, beyond the Selflessness, the Dharma would be prevailed itself.

To an outsider’s ears, it sound yet another belief system, another object of worship though, to

the Zen Buddhist, this is not the belief but the wisdom to see the Truth, like knowledge of

the Atomic-particles.

Nobody ever seen the Atoms by their eyes,  we only guessing from the shadow of them, still they exist.

Dharma is the Rules and its operating system, hard ware all together : ie, the Existence.

( So that even a Western God is just another idea existing in the world, no contradiction there )

The belief to the Dharma is so fundamental and no margin  of argument left, it is like the Physics

thus, no one can escape since it is the absolute like a fact, Sun is there.

So that, when Zenist is absorbed to (his belief) Dharma, he himself become the Dharma,

and its no longer distinguishable (this is the ultimate Ichijo / oneness), he just look like a non believer.

——– Still, is this a fancy belief, or just deep knowledge or serious insight to the Truth ?

Be Objective

Posted in Buddhism, Dharma, Evolution of Mind, Lemon Zen, Subconsciousness, Zen by yoshizen on January 5, 2010

( This is a diversion though funnily enough,  I found this is a KEY function of the Buddhism psyche )

I stumbled on a Japanese Website giving a kind of Agony Ante advice which says,

To get rid of the troubled mind of lost love and get on the life is, ——- the best way is to write a letter

to the person telling all the thoughts or explanations etc etc.  (But, not actually send to the lost lover)

Then, soon or later, the agony of lost love will gone and become a history.

——————–

In fact I found this when I was in my love-sick youth (don’t forget, even Yoshizen was

once a pretty baby——- a bit long time ago though   Ha Ha Ha  😀 ) and in that situation,  I found

” Dissect the feeling of the love too much,  it lose a sizzle and became dry “.

———- It is a  well-known fact, mad love is in fact, caused by the unbalance of the hormones,

and this psychological, physiological condition was created by the over stimulated emotion.

Though, once the subject and its feeling in one’s subconscious was brought out under the light

and analyzed and given a written description it became a clear object.

When we see the same object again and again, we lose the interest, so that, once a

such pretty exciting object, become a mediocre. ( Then,  How I could  be such mad   ? ? ? )

——————–

When love-sick person sit down and try to meditate, it is impossible to get rid of love thoughts,

though if the person has to do this every day, not only its hot emotion become clear object

but also, the brain started to have a fatigue of the same subject, then its no longer able to

trigger the emotion——– its mean the person was effectively detached from the subject.

——————–

So, when you sit, but couldn’t get rid of the thought,  it is the indication of

” This is the thought, you have been bothered and need to let it go “——– So, let the thought to

come up again and again.  Don’t fight with this process but give a good analysis, soon or later, the thought

itself become brittle and  wear out, and the interest where the thought was originated, lose significance.

———- Be an ordinary human, and just sit —–( Don’t pretend to be a super human, like Bodhidharma)

( Though, I rather like to cut cucumber for my diner which I can enjoy, than sitting —– 🙂 )

The Natural process will take you to the next stage, step by step.

This is what we call the Dharma.

——————–

( Then sharp-eyed reader may find a contradiction, ” Why repeated analysis of love-sickness can

make it detached, and on the other hand, repeated readings of the Mantra goes down deep ? ? ? ”

Well spotted.

The analysis of the feeling exposes the silliness of the love-sickness, by its objective logical thinking.

But even illogical teachings in the Mantra would gradually makes sense subconsciously, as it was

written to appeal to the deep logics of the spirituality, which we were born with.——- Convinced ?   🙂

I’ve tested as it works, and tested by the people 2500 years of time.  Try and find it by your self. )

Blackbox / Backet

Posted in Buddhism, Ethos, Subconsciousness, Zen by yoshizen on December 31, 2009

” Buddhism works like the way to empty a Bucket “

In the previous post ” Why Subconscious  (2)” I have used the word Black box to describe how

Buddhism is operating in a simple idea, by keeping the awkward “Mind matter” in the Black box.

——————–

In order to save the suffering people Buddha found the way, not by Political approach or

Social change, but to change the people’s perception  and the way of thinking, in another word

changing the mind system.  Since, the burning issue was to rescue the people who has been

deluded by the Vedic belief of reincarnation, and guide them to the correct spirituality.

To change the Mind system / one’s perception and the way of thinking which is inherently

entwined  with the person’s  Self,———- Buddha casted the doubt to this  Self.

Since he had contemplated the Fundamental principle of the Karma, nothing can be certain

therefore this very Self couldn’t escape either.  Even worse, the part of Self is the Ego which is

the cause of the troubles.  So, he found the best way to solve the trouble is, to get rid of

this Self all together.

Since its existence itself is uncertain, and in fact we are doing many of our activity without

even noticing it, if people practiced long enough, people get used to do it without the Self, and

the Self should disappear by its own deed, since the Dharma and its rules is ruling us from inside.

As Buddha observed and felt the Dharma in his Selfless state, he found  we are born with it

though, the Self is masking it.  Therefore, live without Self will lead to the Enlightenment.

The actual way to study and practice and contemplate Buddha’s teachings differ sect to sect now,

but from the earliest original form, it must be consisting the repetitive simple practice, such as

walking round and round, and exactly follow  the Buddha’s way of life, eat exactly like him,

wash exactly like him, sleep exactly like him etc, down to the minute details.

As Buddha was doing everything in the Selfless way, the life itself is simple and everything was

carried out as a routine.  And the routine looks always the same, so the followers can learn and copy it.

———-

We can not see Buddha himself in person now, nor the Master who wrote Mantra did,

still those tradition was reflected and kept in the way of daily life in a monastery  such as I’ve seen in

the Eihei-Ji, Soto Temple where no conversation, explanation taking place, therefore we just have to

follow the senior who already learned.  We were only the visitor, we are free not follow and

free to leave though, strangely, —–if you are there, you know—– it was the Imperative.

Nothing written, nothing instructed still, something the invisible power overwhelmed us.

There was no another way exist but just follow and Just Do the same, unconditionally.

By doing this, effectively one’s Ego has been removed and any remaining question was silenced.

This must be the way how people followed Buddha in the first place 2500 years ago.

———-

With this practice,  how its affect the follower’s mind may be described as emptying the bucket,

much more than a button on the Black Box.  The content of the Bucket is still in the Black Box though

regardless, or it is not the matter what is in the Bucket, just empty it, so remove the Self include the

Ego all together.  ———-And replace the contents, with the Ethos of the Buddhism.

The marvel of the Buddhism and its  “Just do the practice ” is, it works perfect without  clear reason.

( That is why it took 30 years for me to find out the reason Why and How it works )

——————–

To empty the Bucket and put new idea, is in fact commonly known as a  Brain Wash.

Sound awful as the most of the people may think though, whats wrong with Brain Wash.

All the culprit of so-called  Cult with Brain wash, has used the technique they had learned

from the Buddhism, simply because it is the only technique, effectively works to the Mind

hidden in the Black Box. (If it is not in the Black Box, Logical persuasion  will work)

The matter is not the technique,  what to put into the emptied Bucket.

( It must be quite comfortable to have dirty brain washed.  Splash, Splash,  😀 )

——————–

Just learning or hearing new idea, only makes yet another memory  which may be soon forgotten and

not give any effect to the person’s life, since it is only connected to the person’s conscious memory

(known as a short-term memory) and the thinking.

Instead, what Buddha had found is, to connect it to the subconsciousness and put the new idea into

subconscious long-term memory by the technique of simple repetitive practice.

(My explanation, why this repetitive practices work ?——- Please see many of previous posts )

——————–

——————–

Until here, what I’ve talked about in this blog is,  the hidden facts of ” What the Buddhism is ” which

you may not like my radical view and use or choice of the word (as I’m explaining it in a form of skeleton,

without any fat ) though if you remove wool from your eyes, you may able to see it in the same way.

This is not my invention, the fact is there and all the old  Masters had been doing it.

I’ve just found the words to describe it,  thats all.

———-The professional (so-called ) Buddhists  who is extracting the money from the innocent

(in certain extent, ignorant )followers, need to sell the product / the image or snobbish good feeling

of the Buddhism, therefore need to wrap up the product with nice wrapping paper, knowing as

most of the people are, in reality, never goes more than just touching, playing with its package.

So that those professionals wouldn’t like my view especially.

The important point is,  Buddhism is not based on the glorious illusion or dubious miracle, but on the

clear factual effect to the mind.  This truth is hard and dry as a  Skeleton  (Like the Buddha-2009  :-))

——————–

I’m not trying to start any new movement or sect, I am more of an investigative journalist after the truth.

What I did is just an ” Alchemy of Life ” follow the old steps of Arthur Rimbaud, as myself as a guinea pig

and me myself as a closest observer,  since we can’t see the inside of other person’s mind but we

may see the own mind deep down to the subconscious level. (with the help of the Zen technique)

———- Basically I’ve learned this from the Professor Okamoto while studying  Industrial Sociology,

” Think and observe, as if you are the person with his back ground  and working there.  As a same

human, you can feel and think almost like him.  Sociology is not just counting the number of people

in the category, but you may need to create even new category and  the frame work and the Theory”

———- And I actuary worked, like in the construction site, building huge power station in

Okinawa, Japan, even  setting up safety net 30 m high (as I was a climber it was my expertise)

And, even worked in the production line of Honda car factory in Suzuka.

( That is how I got loads of funny stories )

———-When I left Japan, taking a ship to Siberia and train to Europe, I thought this is my Abyssinia.

( In the next post, I’m going to step out from the simple fact and go to my Hypothesis

of the structure of the human mind.

In fact this is the core of my findings, and the purpose of this blog.)

Why Subconscious (2)

Posted in Buddhism, Enlightenment, Ethos, Meditation, Subconsciousness, Zen by yoshizen on December 27, 2009

” How Buddhism dealt with Mind “

In this post, I’m going to talk about the practical effect of the practice which Buddhism

invented  as the way to deal with the matters in the subconsciousness.

If you are more interested in the historical, theoretical view in the Buddhism, please read

the Mantra of the Yogacara school. especially about the Alaya

——though I found there isn’t much useful insight.

Or you can look into a mountain of the books about brain science——again, they may lead you nowhere.

Our Ethos, notion of the Dharma or Spirituality is not operating in electrical, chemical level.

(Still, the hormone, Serotonin and Dorpamin seemed to have an effect to the deep contented feelings

but, of cause they wouldn’t make you any wiser or enlighten you )

——————–

Buddhism’s teaching method and its practice has been well thought out in the history.

Whether it is walking, banging the drum or sitting, what ever  they looks monotonous silly practice.

Yet, there are 2  hidden agenda or very effective function behind.

(1)  is what I’ve explained many times, it is to induce the selflessness, and disconnecting the coming

signals to the Emotion which contained the subconscious of Self or Ego  as well.

It can be said, it is to automatize routine work, together with the apathy caused by the mental fatigue.

(This is the harsh varier you have to go through.  Any soft sweet words to sugar court it, is a fraud)

(You can’t buy cheap Enlightenment in pink color.  Real one is pretty heavy and cost you, though

its worthwhile to pay.  Since the value of it would be much much more than your own life)

——————–

(2)  and the second purpose is to make you give up any

question such as what for, what would happen after or  think what others say.etc.

Here absolute obedience  is essential.   As long as you  keep fussing about what, why or am I good ?

you have no hope to go any farther therefore the teacher would just give you a nice smile, as he

is not operating in no win no pay policy,  to keep the student coming back is far more important.

So, the second purpose is to make you to lean giving up your Ego without any question or condition.

This is not easy matter,  that is why its have to be repeated again and again to imprint the notion deeper.

This process is to change the system in the brain down to the deep subconscious level.

And (1) (2) together the denial of the Self became complete, both conscious level and subconsciously.

This is the reason why, even if you  get the intelectual knowledge of how and  why practice,

it wouldn’t help you to get  Enlightenment any quicker, if any at all.

( So does, this blog too.  That’s why I’m keep shouting, Just Do It, yet still this blog would gives you

a kind of navigation guide to find  where you are.)——- if you can see where you are objectively ,

at least it will gives you a confidence, you are on the right path. (or completely wrong place   😦   )

——————–

So, the Buddhism practice will kill two birds in one stone.

Yet still, even with this practice, which may have killed off your  Me Me Me Ego,  the another animals

in your instinct is still at large.

So, this is where the rules, discipline comes in force to curb your greed, desire etc.

Still, from the personality profile, the one who could gave up the Ego, tend to follow the rules easily,

and the effect of the practice which had blocked the connection to the Emotion, the greed, desire, anger,

obsession, etc, even a fear of death, will gradually lose the grip and you no longer be bothered by them.

( I’ve been using a metaphoric expression ” The File has been Dilated  ” therefore, even a word ” Alcohol ”

is no longer exist.  So that a bottle on front, wouldn’t give any meaning.   It wouldn’t excite the emotion,

as it is not exist.  Same apply to another evil, money, drug, ghost, vanity, sex-mania ? ,you name it )

———— (Sound grate,  though your wife may not like this. ——— But don’t blame me  😀

There is an Old say, in its reverse Maxim,  If you can’t beat, run away.   Ha Ha Ha )

In fact tender Buddhist persuasion may work, and if you succeeded she is the first one you have saved.

——————–

When you read this, you may think it looks too simple.  —— You are right, since there isn’t much secret

in the Buddhism or the margin left to think about, since  the secret remained in the black box.

So far we only know the functional map of brain,  still don’t know even how or where the memory kept.

And even with the limited number of input, try to induce human like response with a simulation

program had all failed, since we even not know how many factors which may influence the result, were

hidden unconsciously.  Even worse, in a real life, situation and the perceived informations are never

static and its never same to a person to person. / Nothing stays permanent and each Karma is different )

——- So, the mind is still in the black box, but this black box is like a Nintendo, you don’t need to know

the internal electronics. The matter is,how to use it, which button to push, that is all we need to know.

Exactly like this, what Buddha found is, this button in the human life.  This is why its so simple.

———-And this is why when grate Zen Masters realized this, all of them were so annoyed.

The story of  ” Its a dog sit ” was well known even at the time, still another Zen Master

couldn’t understand  until he discovered it by himself.  Its too funny, but unshakable fact.

——————–

One of the most Not Thinking Sect, the Pure land Sect  (Which followers are just chanting

Nam-Amida-Butsu  that all, and may even  not necessary to know who is  the Amida-Butsu, still,

the follower can attain  the Enlightenment.——–( In this aspect,  the Zenist  is the worst.

They will make a question to Buddha when they met him in the Heaven.   Buddha wouldn’t answer   😀 )

Most Bizarre Story in Zen — Disco Dancing in ZEN

” Dancing can be a practice for Zen “

This must be the most ( yet I got many ) bizarre story.  You believe or not I was a Disco King.

1-Tokyo Dream12-001

(This must be the most rare photo of me dancing — taken far later date / Sept 2015

and it shows Rotating LED and LED flushing pants !)

As I used to take photo of many musicians, one occasion at a rehearsal session, a drummer

complained me, even though they work hard to make their tune unique and new, when it was

played at a gig, everybody dance exactly same to the other.

So, I promised him,  ” I’ll dance as the exact reflection of your tune and show it to you.”

(Here I’m not talking about a kind of common body-shaking in one-two-one-two, regardless

whether the music is 8 beat or 16 beat.  Its got to be much more athletic, expressive movements )

——————–

First I get rid of all the patterned crèche such as typical John Travolta’s or Micheal Jackson style kind.

and resorted to the natural dynamics of the body.  Since its heavy inertia, we can’t shake the bottom in

16 beats (still I met 3 person who can do) so the rhythm of the percussions should be assigned to the steps,

bass drum to the bottom and the melody to the hands.

On the end 3 parts of the body started to move independently in different speed in the same time   🙂

And as the use of natural dynamics of the body,  with its maximum speed, lots of people miss took

my dancing as a kind of Martial Art, and asked me which school is it ?

Funnily enough, one person even asked me, Is it related to a religious practice ?

( This is the back ground of previous post ” Shaolin Martial Art “)

——In my knowledge the Indian Barathnatyam Dance which follows some tradition of the ancient

Dancing Yoga,  exactly synchronizing with the music (in its Tara / drumming pattern and the melody)

So,  I applied this to my dancing.  (My favourite is the German Bass. It is the limit the body can follow)

——————–

Even dancing every weekend,  it took 3 years to achieve this movement.

And during this period,  I noticed, this is the process to learn unconscious body coordination,

same as to learn skiing or riding a bicycle,  and this must be the matter what the Zen said about

the ” Ichijo ” as a sword become a part of the body ( or the sword and the body become one )

and then the Dharma would be prevailed.  (How exiting ! ! ! )

When your body follows the incoming music signal automatically, we don’t need to think what

is the music or how to move.    So, I thought, if I can leave the business to the unconsciousness,

I would be connected to the Dharma. ——– though there was not such simple paradise and

nothing changed in my life. ——– Then, Waite a moment,  I realized,  all the baby has

to learn to walk, and all of them become able to walk unconsciously.

It is nothing special.

———————–

Still, at least, I got an insight = unconscious or subconsciousness has the Key to decipher the Zen.

——– (And since then many clubs’ owner, manager offered me free entry for my strange dancing.

It was unexpected bonus——but they too, need a prominent dancer who become a talking piece )

(Some of the readers might have seen me dancing in a club called Flex in Hitchin,

Enigma in Maswell Hill, Limelight in Shaftesbury Avenue, Fridge in Brixton

(Escape from Samsara) = in every weekend, continuously up to 5.5 years (for

Fridge) often having with flashing light pendant or trousers.  🙂 )

So, I had my 60th Birthday Party at a D & B club (organizer called Movement with DJ Fabio etc) and

invited teens to septuagenarian who never seen my “legendary” dancing.  Ha Ha Ha,

It was a good  laugh.  😀

Season’s Greeting / BUDDHA Figure

Posted in Art, Buddha Figure, Buddhism, Dharma, Make, Selflessness, Who is Yoshizen, Zen by yoshizen on December 24, 2009

Buddha-2009

with the  Buddha 2009‘s  image and the Wheel of Life.

Christmas is, for me it is much of a havoc as all the shops

close and the transports stops etc, than  to celebrate.

Though, to a lots of my friends, it is the occasion to have a

good time and get drunk, which I don’t do. ———-

no drug, no alcohol, no gamble, no woman ( how nice  😀  )

still eat anything but not processed food or fizzy drinks.

——- so, I’m making a sheer joke, I’m a holy man    Ha Ha Ha   😀

———————

To see the details of the figure, please click on the photo to enlarge.

Don’t miss the internal reflection, the image of  Wheel of the Life

in his glass  head  ( In the Selfless state, the fundamental rule of Dharma would  revealed  itself).

(This reflection is an optical false image, it will change with a direction to see. It is there as not there )

——– This glass head was made by a technician  who has made the glass housing of

the Hubble Space Telescope’s Image sensor which brought us unprecedented clearest images

of the Universe.  ( To meet this technician happened by the series of sheer coincidences, which I would

call, Karmic encounter. ——- Buddha’s figure may wanted to have his head connected to the Universe )

——————–

Why he was depicted in such a poor looking figure ?   you might say.

Buddha himself chosen to be a Bikku (beggar), and from where, the teaching of the Buddhism

was started.  If he had stayed as the richly ornated Royal Prince, the great teachings of the Buddhism

couldn’t have born.  We have to follow this origin, without additives or glorious decoration.

Without  weapon he was the strongest teacher.  Without any ornament he was the most precious figure.

So, I made him by using recycled materials except the head (and a Hi-power LED inside) though,

some may say, I wasn’t rich enough to buy gold leaf to gritter.  ( So, your donation of a piece

of cloth to wrap his body would be much appreciated   🙂 )

——————–

It is difficult to see from the photo though, a  skull head was held on his hand.

One eye of the skull reflects the twisted, distorted image, and the another shows straight image,

its meant, that is what we have to see the world.

( The rest of the concepts were explained in the post  ” Odd news “)

* * *  Hope all of you have a soul fulfilling  and peaceful  New Year  2010  * * *

———- As the Sun is coming back, its would be brighter any way  😀

My Starting point (2)

Posted in Art, Buddhism, Ethos, Existentialism, Subconsciousness, Who is Yoshizen, Zen by yoshizen on December 22, 2009

” What made me to go into the Buddhism “

( Sorry, the order of writing is not necessary follows  what you may expect, I just write about

the subject when / suddenly / its shape comes up ——To structuring  and make it solid is

the more logical,  intellectual process than the intuition of the Zen ——–Zen follows flash )

——————–

Strangely you might think, I spent 3 years of my High school time to read a book of

French Poet, Jean Arthur Rimbaud. (along side of mountain climbing, skiing and photos of  flowers)

Since, his symbolism poetry needed to be read 100 times to understand what he meant

but, his poems carries the deadly virus of self-destruction too.   Rimbaud was doing his

Alchemy of Life ” (which is the analysis of his life’s journey and who he is ) which was depicted

in his poem “A season in hell” or ” Drunken Boat ” it led to the inevitable wreck,  which he

actuary got and end up in Abyssinia.

—– (After 3 years, I became a copy of him, seeing in his way and thinking like him )  I completely lost

the certainty of who I am. ( Later I found, anybody who was infected by this virus experienced the same )

—– From this experience, now I confidently say  “Anyone who read the same Mantra 1000

times, it would be embedded into your subconscious and become the base of who you are”

—– so, be careful which one to read 😀

—————————-

What makes the reading of Rimbaud Poems somewhat common with Buddhists Pathway

was, that his approach to be a Boyant ( Seer / Watcher) in  Alchemy of Life  was,

to examine the own mind again and again, deeper and deeper, exposing everything

like as a dissected dead body = effectively made his own mind (and the life) a completely

detached dried object.  Detachment while having cut-off the Emotion will lose the tag

of the SELF,  hence creating a state of mind similar to the Buddhists’ Selflessness.

(This process is very similar to the Hinayana Buddhists practice  = Process of  Self-denial )

And as Rimbaud’s subject, include his own life became a detached object without the

emotional attachment, it was described as a metaphorical object or the Symbol =

thence his poetry was called Symbolism.  (This detachment was the self-alienation too, so that

Rimbaud called the state of mind before, as a slumber of the animal —– he missed it

with tears but it was too late)

—————————

It was in the late 60th.  In order to re-construct myself, I resorted to Jean-Paul Sartre’s  Existentialism

and later, then popular  Structuralism  ( I liked this more than  Carl Jung as the theory extended to the

society )

The Sartre’s idea of  “The self defined by the self”, shifted to  “The self defined by other’s eyes”,   then to

“The self defined by the History”  was smoothly evolved to the  “self in the structure” in my eyes.

But in hindsight, I was more influenced by the Max Weber’s idea of Ethos. (as I was studying

Sociology for my degree )

Weber’s theory was, such as the Ethos of the self devoting Protestantism created the self-enterprise

of the own business and hard-working attitude, which led to the development of the Capitalism.

Yet, my eyes was a bit more afar, not just each profession or race, there must be more universal,

fundamental Ethos of Human being.—— My eyes turned to the Buddhism.

——- So that my starting point was more intellectual than the spiritual, and not because of my

farther’s influence. (though, the Ethos and the way of thinking of the Buddhism was THE environment)

——– ( Yet still, to cast the eyes to such direction instead of Technology or Art in my case,  it must be

driven by the deep spirituality,  which I can say only now, it must be the way  how the Dharma works.)

And this was the very timing of my  Karmic encounter to Master Kogetsu.

Why Subconscious (1)

Posted in Buddhism, Selflessness, Subconsciousness, Zen by yoshizen on December 20, 2009

Many of you who have read some other posts here, may wondered Why I’m bothering

Subconscious so much ?

(1)  The first reason is;  Fundamentally the  Selflessness appeared when the incoming

signal of visual, sound, linguistic etc what ever, has not been connected to the emotion.

This brain activity is taking place, in deed, subconsciously.

And only in the Selfless state the one can see and communicate with the Dharma.

Therefore, to gain a control of this process, we need to access into our subconscious.

——————–

(2)  The second reason is;  If we need to control our Ego, Selfish-Self, Delusions etc,

which is hiding in our Emotion or primitive region of our brain, not to mention the troublesome

our instincts, we have to deal  with very subconscious.

——————–

(3)  The third reason is;  as all of our brain activities are carried out without our conscious.

We only know the end result when it was converted to the linguistic context (to the words) or

visual image or action of muscle etc, without even knowing how this result has been deduced ,

induced or inferred by the algorithm there( which all the attempt to simulate by Artificial Intelligence (AI)

had failed ) So that,  we can not discuss the matter while avoiding to touch the matters in subconscious.

On top of this, the basis of those process are relying on our accumulated knowledge, or

[ Data Bank ] (I discussed this in earliest post) which we gathered mostly unconsciously.

Even worse, some part of our  [ Data Bank ] seemed to contain even the Genetic Memories which we

inherit from remote ancestors, which we may only see under the heavy trans like state of the mind.

Trouble of those hidden file is, it quietly influence our perception, way of thinking  and the life itself.

——————–

Of cause, non of the Mantra said anything near to this kind of observation, because of it is not

visible and easy to explain, and anyway, the notion of subconscious was not exist in ancient time.

Still, the Buddhism  managed to control those matters in subconsciousness without knowing how its works.

So, it must be said, the one who discovered this phenomena, Buddha had really incredible insight.

He had seen the invisible phenomena which hadn’t have even the notion or the word to describe it.
