G10 Lens

Generally speaking, the converging lens was designed to project an image — and supposedly a good image.  So, whether it was a cheap toy camera, one time use camera, their lens was designed to make an image as good as its cost allowed.  Its mean when I re-use those lenses, naturally they create quite usable images. (and from their deep depth of field with rather small iris, those images were somewhat focus-free)  But, even among my homemade lenses, if the lens came from somewhere which was not expected to form clear projection (by its lens own), the image was rather hope-less (without having the other lens to compensate the aberration together)   A Lens, which I scavenged from Canon G10 compact camera was that kind.

Photo left was a PENTAX Zoom compact camera.  From this one what I utilized was a mere lens barrel.  And from the photo middle, Canon G10, compact zoom camera. From this massive Hi-tech camera, what I found useful was just a front element of the lens, that’s all. (Like a stepper motor driven F-aperture, stepper motor driven focusing unit etc etc — not mention the screen system, image sensor etc may be used “one-day”  😀 )  And the photo right was the finished product, G10 lens for Sony A7R. = Looks cool isn’t it !  (sample photos which I said hopeless quality may come soon)  😀  (Zen Buddhist would say that, Even a hopeless lens should have a Karma which made him to play a role.) —– Incidentally, today (06-12-2017) was the exact 100 years anniversary of the Independence of the Finland —– Kiitos !

Halina Lens

Hong Kong based Chinese Co. who made Halina camera, Hakin was an interesting company.   In fact, Halina itself was an utterly insignificant cheap camera still, they started to make the cameras as early as in the 1950s = started about the same time to many Japanese camera makers.  They all started to make cheap tin-toy cameras.  From there, the Japanese camera industry developed and evolved to the today’s Hi-tech industry. 

In contrast, Halina stayed almost the same position since.— or, they might just stick to the cheap products to sell in the poor country.  —– I would say they were serious people though, they only managed low-tech, or they never wanted more.  (It might be an old Chinese philosophy to know the position !)   (Still, they made TLR (ish) camera, Auto-exposure camera even 8 mm Cine = surprisingly many many cameras.)   It seemed, they try to survive against digital camera (unless the PC / Printer was handy no print to give to the friends ) still, phone camera killed them off.

For me, it was yet another Toy camera lens still, yet another try.

In most of the case, so-called Focus free was done by the smaller F-aperture’s Depth of Field.  So, instead to have focus free, I emphasized even stronger blurred image by removing the small F-aperture (iris) (= hole in a plastic = Photo left)  Then, the Lens alone was mounted in the center of a metal panel of the camera mount (photo middle) —– Then, on the camera (Sony A7R) (Photo right)

(Not the best occasion to test the lens still, the lens could handle the very tricky lighting condition rather well ! —– Other than the big halation, the images were quite normal aren’t they.)

Sky–Moon–Pinhole

This photo was a morning view from the kitchen window. (But not everyday’s view.)

I was making a thin metal panel (commonly known as a drink can — I didn’t buy = I just found it.  :-D) to a DSLR Pinhole panel.   And this was the outside view then. (30-11-2017 / 16:03)

The same outside was looked like this by the Pinhole !

Then next moment, the moon appeared on the sky (may be the cloud hiding her was moved away)

What ? —– I took a picture with D810 / Zeiss 18 mm lens as a fixed shot.  (16:14:40)

A while later, the moon disappeared and the sky got dark. (If you take a photo of the dark sky, they will show you a red color = may be a reflection of the city’s illumination and the shorter wave-length of light (= like blue) was attenuated easily in the earth’s atmospheres, hence the sky looked red.)

陸水母 (おかくらげ) A way to eat Cucumber

Again, this is the same old question of being natural or to be in the artful sophistication, which IS Zen.  (People having a misunderstanding, that’s so-called deep Zen philosophy is creating such sophistication, but the truth was, simple.  Since the person has been doing the same many years, naturally the skill got better and the work became such high level of refinement = it was a quite natural but unintended consequence —– if it was intended, having such intention  was not Zen. —– Zen ask you just do = After you did it thousand times, ten thousand times, you must be a master of “it”)

Of course, to have a question itself WAS already out of Zen though, this is the Yoshizen Blog where dog shit was the main subject not a serious religious issue. = So, here the matter IS how to eat a Cucumber —– like a photo on top, put a bit of Miso (Soybean paste) and give a good bite or two.     Otherwise, how about the other choice ——–

Cucumber (half of it) was skinned and sliced to the thin tapes using a vegetable peeler (Photo left)  And those cucumber tapes were piled up one by one and they were cut into the 1 mm thin thread. (Knife has to be very sharp) (Photo right)

Then hot chili oil (it has to be made by good sesame seed oil — not other vegetable oil) was added to the shredded Cucumber (Photo left)    And just before eating, some Soy-source was added and eat immediately.  (otherwise, it get soggy) (Photo right) —– How hot may depend on your chili oil.   Still, the texture and the feeling to eat is quite like a real Jerry fish (I mean Jerry fish in the Chinese dish — not the one you might find in the sea.  😀 )    Like a cooked Jerry fish but as it came from the land, I named this cooking (?) Oka-Kurage — Oka mean Land, Kurage is a Jerry fish.  Of course, it’s a joke.    I eat my cucumber in this way if not put it in a vegetable soup. (I wonder why I don’t make a Q-ri momi.  😀 )   I wouldn’t pretend this is Zen or anything sophisticated but just call it Oka-Kurage. It’s to eat. (When you eat, just eat = don’t think or talk.)      M m m, yummy !

So the question was, do you take this journey to eat mere Cucumber ?  (Of course, I wouldn’t call it a journey but the way to cook an Oka-Kurage = only a way to make an Oka-Kurage = its mean this choice IS natural to me. = No other choice.)  So, the others may mistake this single-mindedness as a Mindfulness or Kakugo  and such concentration of the work seemed quite like a Dog Shit for them.  😀  (For me, it’s a Cucumber. —– What else ? )

XP Again ?

It’s not right.  The HP laptop, which I’ve been using for net connection, suddenly died. In the righteousness of the eastern heaven’s standard, such unfairness shouldn’t be happened to such nice man like me !  😀   Theoretically, I can still check Email or my blog using my phone though I wouldn’t do such awkward work.  HP seemed to be hopeless. Even worse, it’s on Sunday = no help. My friend in the WW workshop texted me “It will be saved” though, I can’t wait till Wednesday meeting.  With a kind of last moment struggle, I tried to revive long dead Toshiba with XP on it. —– Basically, this one is working except the connection to the net. (MS said, that they can’t configure) THEN, if MS said so, how about IntelPROSet Wireless ? = Oh !  It’s works.  Then configure its connection with the router password etc etc. (so-called tinkering = and update many program)   😀 

It was a funny situation.  Window was saying that they no longer support, still they supply some update for XP.   In this way, I managed to access my Email and a lots of lots of trouble, reached to my blog (this one) —- still, in a certain extent it IS working !

So, somewhat sneaked out the trouble, and while thinking whether HP could be repaired or not or buy new one —– I’m testing this one (= TOSHIBA saved from a scrapyard) to upload a new post. (while finding out loads of mismatch.  😀  )

Still it’s a fun !   Honest.

6 years of Zero

I know this DJ, Bradley Zero nearly 10 years.  On the beginning, he was DJ-ing in a local caffè where I was very frequent. (I was using their Wifi) —– funny story was that when I was frequent, they became very busy but, when I stop to go, soon they lost Licence.    (It’s mean, the DJ lost a job too.)  (Mind you, it was a sheer coincidence = I didn’t give any hidden political maneuver nor Voodoo curse kind. —– still this kind has been often happening to the place where I go.)  Then a while later I bumped the guy carrying his DJ gear to a local club and told me that he is going to play there.  So, I went to that club and became a kind of regular.  And so on so on many years past, then he formed a company called “Rhythm Section” and he became international too and so on. (What makes this guy remarkable was, that he was very modest still having a firm confidence to stick to his way, literally single-minded and building up his collection of vinyl and the reputation) —–  This week, he sent me an Email saying that they are going to have 6 years Birthday session. Zero put me on the guest list.  I went there with my Disco-costume = Rotating LED Vest.  (They got many DJs and play a kind of Dub, some are nice and good to dance.)   Anyway, I enjoyed being there and danced reasonably well.  (Though, it’s rather annoying,  these days people videoing other’s dancing with their phone = still, it might be a sign, that my dancing was not slow down or dead yet.   😀

Twilight in Greenwhich

It was a rather murky twilight moment in Greenwich.  That’s all.

Looks rather normal picture was taken by so-called Fun Lens.  Fuzzy images were taken by the Gaudy Lens, and if it was very fuzzy, they were done by the Mag Lens —– but I don’t think you ever bother to know.   😀

Autumn Color

Those photos were taken by a single glass homemade lens, called Gaudy Lens on Sony A7R Camera —– you may wonder why needed to use High spec’ camera = the matter was not the spec’ but its small size.   😀

This last photo was by the Mag’ Lens, not by Gaudy Lens —– any way looks the same = doesn’t matter.  As those both lenses got a lots of halation, picture never looks sharp.    Yes that’s what I wanted. = I just wanted atmosphere, or Impression.   In that requirment, those lenses are doing good job.   😀

Melon / melon

Generally water melon is quite big, they are rather bullish size and in the worst case (which comes from middle east) it could be as big as a child body. (Don’t ask me how big a child in the middle east. )

There may not be any rules still when we cut a water melon, we cut it longitudinal way (top to bottom) and make many half-moon shaped pieces.  (to have an easy bite)  😀

Then I found very Kawaii (cute) small water melons = They are less than 7″ (about 16 cm) size, and having very few seeds —– they must be an agricultural new venture.  Because of its size, I cut it same as a Galla melon (in latitudinal way = cut it in side-way) —– What I discovered was, that the water melon has the same melon like 3 core structure of which we can’t see if we cut them from top to bottom !

Yes in deed, in the same family of the melon, why it shouldn’t have the same structure even same to a cucumber.   It was the effort of the melons themselves too.  They made themselves sweet to eat and the seeds carried and spread by the animals to the farther afield.  (But a development of the seedless variety makes the different story.)

Nov’ Moon

It seems, in any society star-gazer was accepted, a bit funny but a kind of romantic still, no harm to the other people.  But, the moon watcher was categorized as a loony and not necessary welcomed by the people.  I don’t think I’m a moon watcher, neither be a loony, so far as it was self-declared.  

I don’t necessary want to see the moon but time to time it comes to the window regardless.  In fact, the photo left took a while for me to realize, that it was a moon (2 days before the New moon. = on 17 Oct’ 2017) and the right photo was taken 1st Nov’. —– the reason why it’s having shadow was, the moon was behind the tree. —– In such condition, did I still need to take picture ?    Ain’t I obsessed ? —– I didn’t feel I got ANY obligation to do so though, I just did it again.  😀     It was very simple, the moon was there. (Strange things was, the camera, Sony A7R with 500 mm mirror lens was on a monopod. —– ISO 3200, 1/1000 sec F8)

(To tell you the truth, there was a serious danger of this post having yet more photo of the full moon which was briefly appeared next night —– though it disappeared behind the cloud soon.)  Sigh !   😀

Your nightmare has come.   It’s a full moon taken on the 4th Nov’, but left photo was taken by Canon EF 70~200 mm at 200 mm, F2.8 on Sony A7R (F2.8, 1/1000 sec)  and the right photo was by Canon 5D MkIII (F8, 1/500 sec) Both hand held. —– They showed the situation quite well, using the same lens even fully open F2.8, mirrorless A7R can make sharper image. 

—– The story behind was, when I heard bang bang noise, I realized that it was the Firework night.  As I saw a big one on the window, I took the camera out with 200 mm Zoom on though, that big one seemed to be the last one. = How shame !  Then, I found the Full moon !  Without bothering to get 500 mm out, I took the moon with 200 mm lens — and I’ve tested the same lens on A7R too.  Very very funny.
