Park after the Rain

After the Rain-3rd DD(1)A09A3469-002

Following those photos were taken by the same Pinhole as in the previous post.

(This top photo was by the two element homemade lens.)

After the Rain-3rd DD(2)A09A3476

Unlike the Homemade Lens, in order to use pinhole which is equivalent of  F125

on hand-held, it is necessary to use very high ISO setting = tonal character etc

became unnatural and have Magenta color cast.  —– but it’s a part of the game.

Of course, you may say, why photography needed to be like oil paintings ?

Only the answer is,  why not.

Greenwich Park — and the Flowers

Hoya G'Pk-2(1)A09A2034

Hoya G'Pk-2(2)A09A2044

Next to the the pond, a patch of meadow (?) was created —– quite colorful

though, they were not a kind of seedling plants,  so  it may not for the

birds but purely for ornamental purpose, I think.

Hoya G'Pk-2(3)A09A2043

Again this is the gorgeous set up for the fuzzy images.

No decent subtleness here,  just an orgy of rampant color !

Hoya G'Pk-2(7)A09A2088

Densely planted flower circle prevented me to see or take picture

in close proximity —– I have no idea what this flower was.

Still, I like this flowers attitude “Standing out, firm”   🙂

In fact, this is the outside of the park = a corner of  Blackheath.

Hoya G'Pk-2(13)A09A2120

This  is a puzzling field.   If it was in Spain, it would be a Campo de Faria kind

though I never seen such things there.  The place was left as if  nobody want to

touch. —– someone said, it was a mass-grave for the Black Death time,

hence the name Blackheath. —– Quite convincing.

End of Summer Meadow

HOYA-Last Meadow(1)A09A2163

Since, the time of growth and flowering has more or less finished.

= for that flower patch it was not an exception.   After some strong

wind and the rain, now the meadow is in their closing stage.

HOYA-Last Meadow(2)A09A2159

On the other hand, now I got proper front lens for that Homemade

two elements Lens thanks to the kind assistance of HOYA Optics.

(Original lens came from my broken specs and -5 Diopter strength.

Now I got  -3 and -6 for further experiment. (I would have  -3, -6, -9 to test !)

Unlike 25 year old specs lens, brand new lens is much clearer = less fuzziness.

HOYA-Last Meadow(3)A09A2165

To compensates clearer image, I increased the “F-Aperture” somewhat

one-stop (6 mm to 10 mm) = it affected the depth of field as well.   😦

HOYA-Last Meadow(3B)A09A2167

HOYA-Last Meadow(4)A09A2168

Still, they looks more or less the same  😀

HOYA-Last Meadow(5)A09A2170

Only (used to be) the meadow looks different.  After a Riot, there

would be inevitable dead bodies and the dried-up carcasses and sticks.

HOYA-Last Meadow(6)A09A2166

That’s what we human saw the situation though,  for the flowers

themselves,  looks like a dried-up carcass is their very seed pod etc

= their proof of success in this summer’s operation.

HOYA-Last Meadow(7)A09A2171

HOYA-Last Meadow(8)A09A2172

Don’t make up a drama,  it is just another phase of one cycle.

HOYA-Last Meadow(9)A09A2173

I’m not sure whether they will come back next season. —– Just wait and see.

Anyhow, I was very much fired-up by their chaos.

(And created lords of looks more or less the same picture.  😀  😀  )

Still it was a fun !

Focus-shifting Muliti-exposure Photo

Multi'Ex-Focus shift Photo(1) DSC_0878-001

Don’t worry, You don’t need to clean your specs.

It’s not your eyes. —– Photo IS fuzzy and it’s meant to be.  😉

Multi'Ex-Focus shift Photo(2)DSC_0874-001

——————- (Hey, this is a very very pretty girly picture ! = Click it and see enlarged. 😉 )

These photos were taken by a technique,  Multi-Exposure with Focus-Shift.

—– In order to have an effect = a core image with out-of-focus halo around, I did

it before while camera was set on a tripod.     But this time I did it by hand-held.

I guess, it could be done by Hacking into camera’s operational program and

over-drive the AF motor while the camera is giving the multiple exposure.

(Single exposure is too short to manually shift the focus. —– In the old days of

wooden camera, the old masters used the same technique to shift a focus while

giving a long exposure.  And the Minolta Alpha 7000 had this effect in their

Portrait Mode to create softer image. ) —– But, I found it was not

difficult to move the focus ring during the few multiple exposure. = Just Do it,

and if not successful try it again —– success rate is somewhat one in four.  😀

(not only how far focus to be shifted, but a trouble of camera-shake is also

a spoiling factor.  = If you are a bad shooter, shoot a lot — one might hit a target !)

Multi'Ex-Focus shift Photo(5)462-001

Multi'Ex-Focus Shift Photo(8)DSC_0844-001

————- (This must be a puzzling photo = where it was focused ?  😉 )

Keen reader of this blog might be realized that the post in these days were all connected

behind the scene = how camera can be steadily hand-held etc.  (without having enough

practice and gained a confidence, this kind of photography would be only a waste of time.

Creativity does not occur out of blue,  it needs to have a base, or incubating ground.

A practical adjustment  or improvisation may suddenly conceived on the spot but

it is a minute part of the operation.

Gauzed Image or in a Reflection — My Answer to Elena’s Paintings

Stock_Flash COPY.A09A0449

When I saw the paintings in a fantastically talented artist Elena Caravera’s blog, of which

a girl’s portrait was overlaid by gauze like white, I found there is somewhat similar psyche

exists in the mind of the painter  = in order to give a psychological depth, intentionally cover

the painting and make the image fuzzier.

[]

Strangely you may think, I’ve been creating “Not sharp” photos intentionally over 40 years.

Since I started my photography taking the photos of Nature, and the close-up photography had

become my part-time job when I was in my Uni’,  to make clear sharp image became a norm

and a routine, then I started to go further departing from cosy home of normal photography.

Reflection(2)426-001

In our generation, some photographers gone to the rough-grain image such as Moriyama

or the subject the society despised such as Araki, etc.  but I was rather enchanted by the

ghost of the image, which we can’t see, or hidden behind of fuzzy or double images.

Reflection(3C)A09A0453

Since then, I tried Soft-focus lens, Improvised, modified lens, Lens from an old folding camera on

handmade camera etc. to see fuzzy image or the image on a reflective surface —– see through

a distorted glass material etc. —– I got thousand of this kind of photos.

[]

Photography is a COPY of the subject.  = The more realistic and the closer to the reality of the

subject, it become mere substitute of the real thing.  It’s better to see the real thing if possible.

But when its reality was lost, its image started to have its own mind.  Whether it is in fact my

own mind or the curse to the image, it start to assert its own voice = the photo became

independent of the subject.  —– or, that’s what I’m thinking.  😉

Though, I don’t know, what Elena is thinking.  😀
