LED ring light + 8150 Story

While looking around the Ebay, I noticed that the Chinese LED Ring Light is very cheap now = could be even cheaper than a homemade.

So, I bought one 24W-Variable, 5500K, 20cm Ring Light for £12 ! —– it came with a mounting fixture still not perfect for a photographic lighting. —– for photo-light, it needs to be mounted on the many kind of lighting stand etc, in order to have a freedom of the positioning and lighting angle. = A sort of good compromise was a Z-light arm on a flexible lighting stand, which may allow the position poised setting under one hand adjustment.

With this idea, I have collected quite few Z-light components etc, etc — then I realised that, to build a Z-arm, balancing springs are the most troublesome components I need to get hold (but who supply them etc )

And, I was convinced that instead of struggling building Z-light myself, why not to buy a readymade LED light with Z-arm = when such light comes as cheap as £18 !

So, I ordered and waited the item delivered. Then, I received a delivery notice of Tracking Code GV085180518GB, which said that the parcel was dropped off : 28-Dec 14:04 GMT. —– But, very parcel was seen nowhere.

—– As I knew the tracking number was completely that omen of 8150, I thought it could show the big trouble. (The parcel was not dropped to the neighbour either and no notice was left) So, where has it gone ? Was that one stolen ?

So the enquiry to the Royal Mail — etc etc. — ? ? ?

Then it was delivered on Monday by a Chinese Post woman.

Now the system of main light and the Aux / Ring light on Z-light arm were complete.

On this 8150 case turned out to be not necessary so bad for the New Year 2020. But the question was, ——— Why the Omen Number 8150 which can be read for Ha-I-Go-Rei in Japanese (mean the Spirit Behind = Guardian Angel, keep following me ?) Leave me alone. (Or, the heaven is giving me the sign = that I have to fulfill my role ?)

Then the twist came 4 weeks later = The LED ring light on Z-light arm which I bought for £18 from China brake down. (Can be modified or cannibalised to use only its LED ring-light and the Z-light arm) Seemingly, as it was chiep, the quality was just accordingly. —– Same as the Korean, Chinese might have thought that if they copy Japanese product using the same production machine and the component fron Japan, they can make the same though —– they don’t know the “Now-how” = how to use that machine. = Quality and the reliability couldn’t be copied. (That’s why I only buy small mechanical components, such as adapter ring from China)

And the heaven might know this situation long before, and that’s why the tracking number (085180518) appear to be that’s “8150” omen number = so, the product has come with a warning.

Then, the following story was funnyier. I try to get hold the said broken switching unit (asking the seller to replace the parts and try to contact the manufucturer of the switching unit —– without success ) Then, I realised that apparently the same ring light (with the same switching unit but without the magnifier lens nor Z-light arm ) was on the market for as cheap as £6.70, which could be even cheaper than the cost to get hold the electronic circuit from the manufacturer. = So, I ordered the two of them. (One to replace the broken switching unit and the other to use on my homemade ring light) = Now, my LED ring light on the Z-light arm is in a working order.

Strange Fragmented London

Those photos were taken in the same time of other “Fragmented Lens Photos” though, something wrong with Colour balance setting. —– Still, I like them.

Is it possible to take photo without an intention of taking photos ?

Somewhat the same landscape by the “Fragmented Lens” on Nikon Z7.

It is something puzzling me ? ? ? —– Advanced image processer in the latest camera straggling with unusual images and make the image even more unnatural.

F and M — Cats story ?

They are the photos from the Fortnum and Mason’s X’mas decorations taken by a homemade “Fragmented Lens” ( few exceptions which got dark surroundings = 110 Pentax 24mm Lens) on Nikon Z7.

I’ve been seeing this gentleman always on this doorside every X’mas time (except last year) = he is the another fixture of the Fortnum and Masons shop for ages.

I’m not knowledgeable enough to tell what breed of the cat they are nor able to tell about those angels —– still, I hope you to have a peaceful merry X’mas. 😀

Oxford Street —> Selfridge X’mas decoration (?)

The all photos here were taken by a homemade 1/4 lens on NikonZ7.

Selfridge’s this year’s X’mas decoration was just the display of their goods.

Economical downtern reflected from uncirtainty of the Brexit etc etc might be making shy economy, hence their design were pretty economical here too.

Hi-ISO noise

Fragmented lens on Nikon Z7 / ISO 25600 / ND filter = in order to make the exposure time even longer, a dark ND filter was used as well.

Till now, I thought that the noise caused by Hi-ISO setting was just a nuisance, or necessary evil though, I became aware, in certain case, it could be an useful tool.

(ISO represent the degree of amplification of the signal —– any electronic signal would produce the noise when it was intensively amplified = whether it was audio signal, or light signal from the image sensor, when they were amplified, the residual charge in the circuit line etc etc were also amplified hence those noise was superimposed onto the main signal. — you may say why the digital signal has noise = the output signal of image sensor IS analog, until they were AD converted. = Here, in the AD converter, the depth of 12 or 14 bit etc decide the quality of the image. = one bit more mean twice as much process will be needed for each pixel of the image sensor ! = You see how enormous the task is = That’s why almost all digital camera is Japanese (inside of Leica is Panasonic) and almost all image sensor is Sony —– Who else would bother to take such awkward task in the world. 😀 )

For a comparison, this photo was taken under the same condition but with the Sony A7R / Fragmented lens / ISO 25600 / ND filter (noise level seemed to be a bit less than the Nikon Z7 —– was that what the advantage to be an electronic company over a lens company ? )

Even among the oil paint, many different styles = so, in the soft paintery effect photography, there could be a grainy style —– looks not too bad.

This one was by the Fragmented lens on Nikon Z. (Camera itself set the ISO to 12800 (not me) = So, the noise was too high — still, as an image, it wasn’t too bad. Unlike a soft smooth image, the roughened up texture showed quite strong impact. I like it.

This Pentax lens itself IS a pretty good decent lens, even if it was for 110 size camera but mounted on a full size mirrorless Nikon Z.

We can take picture in any excuse. Nothing hinder us to be creative.

Night sky

00:52 / Colour balance = Shade

Time to time, we see extremely red night sky or red moon. Yet still, we may not necessary take picture of it, or to know why the sky was so red.

When it’s red, it’s red all night till morning.

This photo was taken by the “Fragmented Lens” with the colour balance setting for Shade. (long exposure showed more noise)

The same camera but the lens was changed to 110 Pentax 24mm lens.

When the camera’s colour balance was set to Auto, the image became like this = was this because the red shift was nutralised by the camera’s image processor, OR red was not there in the first place but created in the camera ? (To compensate “Shade” = 7000K Colour balance, the image would be pushed to warmer orangery colour, hence red sky !)

And this photo showed that the red colour was in fact the refrected light on the clowd. Unless the light from the ground was refrected back, we can’t see it, in other words the sky was not burning but the grounds.

Fragmented Lens

Note: The photo here was just fuzzy (unsharp) = no overlapping bokeh = since it was made by a single lens

After making 1/2, 1/4 lens cameras, there are many fragmented lenses left behind. Even fragmented — its still functions as an optical lens.

Zennist’s tendency is = No attachment, — yet still, (strangely) go for whole hog. So, why not test those small plastic fragment ?

As (or used to be) an optical lens of one time use camera, it works as a lens, even though it was fragmented to such small fraction.

And a remarkable point of those fun camera lens IS they are very well designed aspherical omuni-focus lens. Therefore, they can capture the image in distence to

close subject such as this without any focusing control. (well, you may say, more or less)

So, for the general use, they do an enough work. What do you ask more (for its less than £10 price). 😀
